Guest guest
Hi Jen, I had surgery on Monday and seem to be doing ok (knock on wood!). Im surviving on sugar free popsicles so far =) and Propel with water (mixed.. its too sweet just straight). I have had my proteon shake too (well... part of it- i cant drink the full shake). I was becoming dehydrated in the hospital when i was drinking less....its amazing all the different surgeons tell us different things! I wouldnt have been allowed to leave the hospital until i was drinking more than an ounze every hour... My biggest complaint... besides the pretty colors that my belly has turned.... Guest guest
Karlyn, I left the hospital with such black and blue marks, that when my husband and I went out, people were whispering that I looked like I had been beaten,,,,,LOL.... It gets better, just drink as much as you can. The aversion to sweet tasting fluids eases up after a week or so. Protein will always be protein, but add splenda and sf flavors to it with crushed ice, it tastes better that way, sometimes I add a tablespoon or two to enhance the flavor. Best to you, Debi --- Karlyn wrote: > Hi Jen, > > I had surgery on Monday and seem to be doing ok > (knock on wood!). Guest guest
Hi Jen - I was given little shot/medicine glasses to sip out of.That reminded me to go slow.I remember having no pains after I was home from surgery but my legs ached soo bad I took some pain medicine or I would have never been able to sleep.I didn't have them fall asleep though. Good luck with the 4 weeks on liquids.I only had 2 weeks & felt like I was going to be crazy.I made sure to have a variety of Crystal light, flavored waters & broths. That will help you make it through. You'll be amazed at how much you have lost after this liquid period.Again,Good luck to you! Guest guest
Try different protein shakes if you do not like the ones you are having. I am one year post-op and still have the shakes as two meal replacements to help me continue to loose weight: I like EAS Carb Sense. You can order them online from Vitamin Shoppe or you can order them directly from EAS. I also just started on ISOPure and find that one tolerable also. The other thing I do to make it more tolerable is to use Skim+ milk instead of water: I get extra protein and extra calcium at the same time Also, give yourself a break: you are five days out of surgery. Things will get better. I could only drink 1/2 a protein shake also. Slowly it moved to the whole shake and now I can have the shake with 1/2 piece of fruit. It gets better.... Guest guest
Mine itched too! I think it was from the stuff they put on you to sterilize your belly. I wound up w/ a nasty rash for about 3 weeks after surgery. W 380/302/160 Karlyn wrote: > Hi Jen, > > I had surgery on Monday and seem to be doing ok (knock on wood!).
