Is there any way around these things? What alternatives is there? besides the large sweater look. which I can do for now but come spring it is harder. I use sport bras and they are not too bad but there has to be something better. I thought that I would ask all of you who deal with the shoulder and back pain. Guest guest
Adela, I found that going one size larger helped some, but it does sort of ruin my " fashion look " . This is o.k. at my age but perhaps not for all you younger women. Margaret B > > I don't want to embarrass any men. so please women only! Guest guest
I use tanks or camisols with the " built in " shelf bra instead of the regular, most uncomfortable, " piece of crud " bras, lol. Cannot stand them at all. Heck there are days I cannot stand anything more than a t-shirt and sweatshirt. I totally understand. My pain is not from the " extra large variety " either, so it must be the stupid fibro doing it. I hear this alot ladies. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. 3. Also, it is not uncommon for more than one member to be feeling bad at the same time when it comes to flares and b/c of that potentially take something another member says the wrong way. And that includes the things that one member may find funny (even if it's laughing at fibro itself) even though we who deal with illness whether one such as fibro or multiple illnesses try to keep a sense of humor. 5. Pls let's be gentle with each other, and if you are having a bad day pls let us know so that we can do our best to offer our support. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
Have any of you tried sports bras? There are some nice sports bras that are similar to bras. With small straps. I get mine at Walmart. They have a variety of types and they are not expensive. I had breast reduction surgery in May 2007 and the Dr messed it up. All I can wear are sports bras...so I know you can get some nice ones. Guest guest
I use medical tape (the breathable, paper kind) to tape down my nipples. End of problem! Of course, that's not going to work for anybody larger than a B-cup. Or if you're wearing a sheer blouse or something. Guest guest
I had a reduction in May 07. The back pain relief is 200%. Beyond what you'd even imagine. However the Dr messed up the surgery and I have other problems because of it. When asked if I'd do it again. YES, I would. But I've learned to check the Dr out. Make sure he's not being sued for anything. Make sure he listens to you. And gives you lots of information. Make sure he has photos of past patients (no heads are on them). Make sure he takes photos and measurements of you. My Dr did none of this. The new Dr that I'm seeing to fix the damage has done these things. Though they say most of the damage cannot be repaired. Just minor adjustments. Elaine > > > I thought that I would ask all of you who deal with the shoulder and > back pain. > Adela > >
Guest guest
I found that getting away from the underwire bras helped. went to wearing to the new styles that are seamless and soft. lisa n.

Guest guest
This topic would be a hoot if only we didn't have the pain! I can't advise those in the A-B cup range, but I've found in the larger sizes, as I have fibrocystic breasts, that I require an underwire plus the little 'cookies' underneath for support. It does add to the already- large bosom I have, but the support from beneath, plus the wider, more supportive band under the arms helps keep things 'up front' where they belong, lol. The straps are wider on some, distributing the support more. Now my boobs are supported around fully 50% on the bottom, with the top of the bra cups mostly just gently covering the rest. Found this out by accident one day when bra shopping with my sis. I hadn't bought myself any for quite awhile, and we stopped in VS store and were joking about the 'huge' double barrel slingshot styles. Then, when I took the size I thought would fit in the fitting room and couldn't get it on, and we progressed to larger and larger ones, we ended up at that exact same table full of bras to find something for my humongo bongos! girlsaylor
Guest guest
I'm small ( but I wear a playtex bra that is cushiony and WIRE FREE! I swear by these bras, they are so comfortable and wire free!!!!! Adela wrote: > I don't want to embarrass any men. so please women only! Guest guest
Adela, I agree, bras suck. I've been bra free for nearly a decade. I started going bra free after my youngest child was born due to a horrible case of mastitis that made it near impossible for me to do anything but scream when material of any kind got near my bustline, this included the dreaded bra. I have not worn one unless on very, very rare occasions ever since. When I must be prim and proper for interviews or whatever, I wear a camisole with shelf insert. My favorite style is by Vassarette. The style number is 17-651. They're cotton, and I'd swear by them. I also wear, when it's bloody cold outside, a thin set of long underwear by Secret Treasures style number 8442. I have never, since that point, been told that I HAD to wear a bra. Granted, I'm not the bustiest person in the world. My daughter wears a bra, but prefers the same style camisole in her size. She's fifteen, and high school is a cruel environment. Like me, bras kill her, and she only wears them when she doesn't have a choice. Otherwise she'd rather skip that idea. Hope this gives you ideas. A. Neff > > I don't want to embarrass any men. so please women only! (unless it doesn't bother you) > > > > I want to talk about Bra's > > It is uncomfortable and Hurts. Guest guest
I find the Cacique brand bras from Lane to be very comfortable. I get the kind without underwire. I also mostly wear sports bras around the house. I order these from Roamans catalog. They do sell one brand there that is more expensive but it is a hook style bra, but still very soft and supportive. Don't know if this helps anyone. I am large sized obviusly from the places I shop.
