Guest guest
I am interested in talking to anyone who has some experience with reflux. I have a girlfriend who has a seven month old baby with reflux. She is on all types of medication trying to make it better, but so far nothing has worked. She is up every twenty minutes at night and she is physically and emotionally exhausted. Her husband helps at night but he is the only one she has to help her and he is gone during the day. Is there anything she can do or take to make her feel less tired and emotional? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Thanks Michele, I just called my friend and told her about the mylanta, her dr. said childrens Mylanta but they hadn't tried it yet. She is going to call about the adult mylanta. Was it an actual rx or was it over the counter mylanta? Do you know? Thanks-
Guest guest
My girlfriend had a child who had severe reflux, but he had to have it repaired surgically. It completely cured him and changed their lives for the better. I don't know if that's an option, but it's the only case I've had personal knowledge of--good luck to her! S. I would be glad to talk with you about it. His meds managed his reflux pretty well, but he was always fussy and seemed uncomfortable. Is the baby seeing a GI specialist? I stayed up at my parent's house a lot during that time to get extra support. It is so tiring and emotionally draining. I can remember all too well. Does she do any Mommy and Me kind of stuff. It can help just to get out and be with other Mommy's. Maybe even go to LLL if she is bfdg? Taking walks has and did help me if weather permits. Drinking herbal tea may help little bits. Gosh, please e mail me if you would like any further insites...if I have any!

It's called a Nissen Fudulplacation (sp?) and is major, but a life saver in many cases. I think they try to wait to see if the child outgrown it first though. Many times after the first year, reflux lessens significantly.
Guest guest
I don't know if they have tried this yet but I know a toddler on my Nov-Dec 97 list had this really bad and she was prescribed adult Mylanta and it was the only thing that worked. As for mom I don't know what to say, I feel bad for her, I had terrible reflux as a baby and my mom was very distressed by it. I projectile vomited all over her friends curtains once :-( Michele, mom of Arran 12-27-93 and Keely Paige 12-5-97 #3 EDD 3-13-00 It's a BOY! Guest guest
I think it was regular adult Mylanta, not prescription. Another mom on the same list just had another baby a few weeks ago and her Dr suggested the childrens Mylanta as well but it didn't work for her dd and she is going to talk to the Dr about the adult Mylanta as well. I will ask my friend more about it and the dose and age etc when I see her online ok? Guest guest
My friend just replied to me. She said she thinks it was 1/2 tsp. of Adult Mylanta but your friend should check with her pharmasist. Guest guest
, She could get some Bach Flower Rescue Remedy from a health food store that should help her attitude a lot.
