Guest guest
Yeah there is a link in the chemistry. I guess that would explain too why I was diagnosed with major depression long years before the fibro. Probably does play a major role... serotonin. The SSRI's such as prozac, paxil, celexa, zoloft and a few other new ones now.... they increase the amount of time the serotonin stays between receptor sites of the neurons and makes the serotonin you already have more available for use. Hence, Selcetive Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor. I know I can't do without this line of drug. If I EVER go off of it, I will flare really bad, have almost no concentration left, and the pain is horrendous. I went off it once or twice and paid the consequences severely. (of course back then I did not know I had FM) Thanks, love and hugs, Debra V. Kate Court wrote: They think serotonin is the link, its whats in exercise that is good for us.. I wonder if the long term use of the antideprssants has contributed to the fibromyalgia, or if it is just that the same chemical imbalances that cause depression play a role in fibro also. I will never know. So many unanswered questions. And in my case, I was diagnosed with major depression for years and years before the fibro got me. Guest guest
Hi Debra, I think there is a link also. It doesn't " cure " my fibro fog or pain, but I do think I would be in bad shape if I weren't taking them. Marti debra van ness wrote: Yeah there is a link in the chemistry.
