Is it the same as going to a tanning bed?

Sun lamps are used for therapy to treat Acne vulgaris, seasonal

affective disorder (SAD), both seasonal and non-seasonal depression,

bipolar disorder, certain sleep disorders, insomnias. Examples of

research include sun lamp light therapy treatment for bulimia nervosa

and binge eating disorder, depression during pregnancy and

premenstrual depression, adult attention deficit hyperactivity

disorder, correction of discomfort related to shift work and jet lag,

and behavioral disruptions of Alzheimer's disease including sleep and

daytime agitation.

There are hundreds of websites that sell the different types of

lamps. The theory is that some of the disorders like SAD result from

a deficiency in serotonin and that the sun lamp helps your body to

create more. Haven't you ever noticed that you feel better on a

bright sunny day over a gloomy day? Same thing.

No! These are natural light sun boxes. They don't give you a tan or

a burn, like tanning salons do. They don't have the UV range. The

sun boxes are used for Seasonal Affect Disorder, and to treat

depression.

You can read about them on the www.sunbox.com web site. That's a

company that I've dealt with.

If you go to the web site for this group and click on " photos " , I

just posted four pictures today under the album name " Z " .

There's a partial picture of a large sun box in those pictures.

That's my big sun box and came from the sunbox company at that web site.

Caution: sun boxes attract cats. You may not be able to get near

the danged thing for the pile of cats sacked out belly-up in front of

it. ;D
