Guest guest
In 2005, I dipped into a depression that pretty much kept me mostly in bed for a good 18 months or so. When I started feeling better mentally, my low back let me know that I had weakened it to the state of I can no longer sit back and relax in a chair. If I do, my back will have very painful spasms when I try to stand up. So, now things are better mental health wise. Physically, I spend a large chunk of time sitting at the computer desk, and or watching TV, which means sitting forward on a living room chair, keeping my back straight. So, after several hours, my neck muscles get really tired and often hurt. The only thing I can do is get into bed so I can rest my neck. I can then get up for an hour or two more in the afternoon, but usually by 6 p.m., I have to be in bed. I don't want my neck to remain weak. I want to build up some strength and endurance in these muscles, so I could maybe get through an entire day without needing to lie down, or better yet, be able to spend an evening somewhere other than my bed. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could go about doing this? I'm planning on seeing my chiropractor, and they can give me some ultrasound PT there as well. That will help relieve pain, but won't necessarily strengthen the muscles. I'll ask his opinion as well. Jeanne in SE WI
