Well, I went for the fasting bloodwork this morning. I wasn't even

allowed to brush my teeth first, because my toothpaste has sugar in

it. Get over there (no coffee yet)and get most of the way through

with registration, just to find out that my MA hasn't opened yet.

(was approved last friday). Call the caseworker to find out why. He

says (and I quote) Well, you get 259 a week in your husbands

unemployment, so I;m not going to qualify you. " !!!! Now, that's gross

income. After taxes are taken out, it barely pays the mortgage and

utilities. It doesn't even leave 20 bux a week for gas in the car so

he can look for other work while he's laid off! How do they figure

that's enough to pay for 2500 worth of bloodwork!!!! He said we

won't qualify for foodstamps either. We still have a child at home

under the age of 18. We qualify according to the state income level

limits. This guy is just being a jerk. I don't get anything from

disability yet, and he's ticked off about that too. (it's been 5

years, why can't you just get on with it.) Why do we have to

tolerate people like this? It's bad enough that my husband is going

to be out of work for 3 months out of the year, every year. This is

not new, it happens around here all the time. Nobody mines stone in

the winter, so they don't need his pallets. What else can I do?

Even if I get approved for disability at some point in the future, I

have to be receiving benefits for 2 years in order to qualify for

medical assistance or medicare through them. HELP!
