Guest guest
Hubby used to smoke (we both did) and his asthma was so bad the first 9 years of our marriage. Sometimes he would over exaggerate his symptoms and I'm being serious, lol. LIke he would be dying if he had a simple head cold, and would act like he was dying. Well Christmas 2002 I think? He got really sick with a cough and I couldn't tell how sick he really was because he acts like he's dying if he shocks his finger with static electricity. Yes I'm serious, lol. Anyhow one morning he just could not breathe and I was almost mad at him for not letting me know how serious this was. So I looked at him in the face and said " You tell me what I need to do for you, right now! Do I need to take you to the ER, or do I need to get you into one of those walk in clinics like Care Now. " He thought for a second and said " care now. " We went there and usually you have to wait 2 hours but I told them " he his having difficulty breathing. " They whisked him back right away, and I went along, they listened to his chest, did an x-ray, came back and said " oh, looks like you got a little pneumonia in there! " I was like WHAT? They gave him a shot in the rear (he is phobic of needles too) and did a breathing treatment for him, sent him on with tons of meds. I told him later " Don't you ever again over exaggerate a simple cold, because I had no idea how sick you really were! " He knows now to let me know when things are that serious but he also knows better that when he can't breathe, to get in to see the doc ASAP. He's bad about not wanting to see the doc. Now when he's sick and feeling pitiful, I'll say " my poor hon " and he'll go " ahhh, I'll be a'ight. " I know if he doesn't say " I'll be a'ight " that it's something to pay close attention to. Anyhow, we both quit smoking in 2003 and he doesn't get those upper respiratory problems anymore at all. I'm so glad, that scared me so bad and I just can't imagine if something had happened to him.
