Guest guest
I had my first cholangitis episode in the spring of 2000. The metro hospital I went to was unable to get into my CBD - treated with IV antibiotics and sent home (after the pancreatitis subsided 5 days later). I was symptom free for a year. A year later, same symptoms, went to the same ER, same ER doc, same on call GI, who said " he's to complicated, send him to Mayo " (midnight ambulance rides are us). Mayo had no problems dilating and stenting my CBD; I developed pancreatitis again unfortunately. The stent was remove 2 weeks later due to gallbladder area pain (may have been blocking the GB duct). Gallbladder was removed 4 months later (diseased, 2x normal size and non-responsive). I've been asymptomatic since (normal LFTs, no URQ pain, no jaundice, no pruritis). My doctors say that this does not necessarily mean my PSC is progressing, but an ERCP will have to be done as soon as I complete my oral antibiotic treatment. I would appreciate any feedback/comments on your experiences with Cholangitis and how you fared afterward... Thanks so much, Chris
