Re: Hydrocodone without Tylenol?

Hi Debra, Others have questioned this too. Hydrocodone by itself is just that

hydrocodone and it is available and I do take it. If it is just hydrocodone it

says 5mg on the bottle or whatever strength you take it in. I get the 5mg. If

it has Tylenol in it the bottle say 5/500 if there is 5 mg of hydrocodone and

500 mg of Tylenol. Or it could say 10/600 if there is 10 mg of hydrocodone and

600 mg of Tylenol and so on. I have been taking it that way since I began

taking it because my doctor didn't want me to have the extra Tylenol and so I

could regulate the Tylenol on my own and not always take it with the hydrocodone

because sometime I need them at different times.

It does not have APAP on it or any other abbreviation or numbers.

If I had a scanner or a digital camera I would show you the differences.

Hydrocodone can come in many different forms including a syrup with an

antihistamine or guaifenisin. I really do know what I am taking and am pretty

savvy with the medical terminology. I certainly don't know it all, but of this

I am positive. I don't take Tylenol with my hydrocodone.

I know as a nurse that you certainly know more about medical things than I do.

and would normally just accept your advice. But I do know what I take. I am

very particular about what goes in my body and I research everything any where I

can.

I like you do not want anyone to overdue the Tylenol with the hydrocodone.

and definitely if it has two numbers with a / between them you are taking

Tylenol or if it says APAP. Most of you are probably taking it that way so be

careful as Debra says. If you are not sure, ask your pharmacist.

bottle. It probably has a word called APAP on it which is a medical

abbreviation for acetamenophin which IS TYLENOL.
