Guest guest
I live in Bartlett, TN, now. The tornadoes were all around us! Memphis got hit pretty hard on the southwest side. There were 3 tornadoes spotted all around where I live; the Wolfchase area and Kirby Whitten and Yale, Angie. But luckily they didn't actually touch down, so only minor damage to a few houses. Arlington, a few miles east of Bartlett, got hit pretty hard, especially one subdivision. My younger daughter has a friend who lost their house. She and her 5 year old daughter had to be dug out of the rubble. They were still in the bathtub where they had hunkered down for safety. It was a pretty scary night. I don't remember ever having that many tornadoes being spotted in one night before; and I've lived here since '74. Most of the time when we get tornadoes, it's just in one part of town, not spread out all over at the same time. Even northern MS got hit pretty bad. I'm feeling really greatful that my family and I are still alive and have our homes to live in. Even our cars didn't get damaged. --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Guest guest
, I lived in the Quail Ridge Golf Course subdivision. If you go farther north on Kirby Whitten you come up to the golf course on the left. The back of my house backed up to the Quail Ridge drive or whatever it was called where you turned left into the subdivision. We had the highest house on the hill in the center of the subdivision; with a wooden deck in the back yard. We had a tornado or " downdraft " hit that street behind our house once. That same week it took out a bunch of fences along Yale. That was as close as it got and it was too close for me Me being a Calif girl; I hated the tornados or threat of tornados. We didn't really have a good place to hide in our house either so it made it even worse. Being up higher than anyone else in the subdivision seemed like it made us a bigger target. I also lived in a big 2 story house on Altruria right around the corner from the school. I can't remember the address right now. It was the only 2 story house on that block on the east side of Altruria. We were there for 1.5 years before moving into the other house. I'm glad you all came out ok. My older 3 kids all have friends still back there; but over the years they stay in touch less and less frequently. I really didn't have any friends there; only one I had moved here.
