Finally my GP told me to take tylenol pm. That has helped me to sleep about 4 hrs. The improvement I'm seeing with cymbalta is weight loss and less apetite. My mind seems clearer even with lack of sleep. Amitriptiline made me so groggy all day. I need some suggestions of what helps you sleep??? I'm getting desparate. Guest guest
Judy I took Amitriptyline for 19 yrs. & over those years I found that I took forever to get to sleep & then there was the wieght gain. Today I take Celexa for deppression & Lunesta for sleep yet I wake often. I like most of US can relate to the loss of sleep. I am blessed to have gotten 7-1/2 hrs. sleep last night. Yet I am sore and stiff even w/450mg. Lyrica per day. The MONSTER,GGGRRR!!! Like some in S.E. Ark. would say " I feel Ya " . If I didn't have insurance Lunesta would be out of the question. Guest guest
Judy - Have you ever been on trazadone? It's a similar type med as the amityptalene, but works better for some. Just a thought. I'm praying you can find the solution. Jeanne in WI >I see my Rh today. I need to discuss with him the awful lack of sleep >because of the pain. Guest guest
Judy, I have a lot of sleep issues. Sometimes (not always) the hot tub helps. I take Xanax and Nortriptylene at night to sleep; and I take Cymbalta in the morning. I'm also on Lyrica so I am not sure why they stopped yours. If you wake after 4 hours on the tylenol pm; maybe take some more then? My experience is that Cymbalta is subtle. It helps gradually; so that one day you sort of say " hey, my pain is better " ... as for depression/anxiety it seemed to taper off the extremes; so it wasn't entirely gone - just not so extreme. Again, that was gradual. I've also read, the maker of Cymbalta says there is no clinical evidence to support any additional gain from taking more than 60mg. So for me, the Xanax helps settle down my mind at night to sleep - although I don't take it all the time because it does have a left over groggy effect I think. Hope my 2 cents helped...
