HI, DIANE,

I HAD BOTH DONE-2 SLEEP STUDIES & EMG TESTING. THE EMG WASN'T REALLY THAT

PAINFUL.A BIT " UNCOMFORTABLE. " , THAT'S ALL. SOMETIMES I CAN " TRICK' MY MIND INTO

LESSENING THE PAIN IF I TRY REALLY HARD.

THE 2 SLEEP STUDIES I HAD WERE 2 OF THE BEST NIGHT'S SLEEP I EVER GOT. I WAS

HOOKED UP TO ALL SORTS OF BOXES, ETC.,(LIKE ECG LEADS) BUT NO PAIN FOR ME. THE

HOSP TOLD ME TO TAKE MY " ROUTINE " MEDS. THE DOWNSIDE OF THE SLEEP STUDIES WAS

THAT THEY WOKE ME UP AND I WAN'TED TO SLEEP MORE. THAT'S AT THE HOSP I WENT TO

IN CT. YOURS MAY BE DIFFERENT. THEY VIDEOTAPED ME, WATCHED & LISTENED TO ME ALL

NIGHT. I WAS VERY COMFORTABLE.

I HAVE A SLEEP DISORDER (SLOW WAVES) AND AM GLAD I WENT. WHAT WORKS FOR ME NOW

IS CLONAZEPAM 4 MG, PAMELOR 75 MG, SOMETIMES 50 MG OR LESS OF TRAZADONE. I

DIDN'T GAIN WEIGHT ON THE PAMELOR, BUT WHEN I WAS ON ELAVIL I GAINED OVER 40

LBS. MY MEDS HAVE BEEN CHANGED SINCE I'VE HAD THE SLEEP STUDIES DONE ( & FIBRO).

I FIND (WITH MY DRS PERMISSION) THAT IF I DON'T TAKE ALL THE SAME SLEEP MEDS

EVERY NIGHT I SLEEP BETTER & GET LESS FIBRO PAIN. SOMETIMES I TAKE BENADRYL OR

UNISOM (BOTH OTCS) INSTEAD OF TRAZADONE. WHAT WORKS FOR ME MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU.

HEAT WORKS VERY WELL FOR ME TO GET RID OF KNOTS IN MY MUSCLES. I USE

MICROWAVEABLE PRODUCTS CUSTOM MADE W/FLAXSEED (I'M NOT ALLERGIC), THERMACARE OR

GENERIC EQUIV. HOT AS I CAN TAKE IT SHOWERS.

SOMETIMES I CAN " RUB " THE KNOTS OUT OF MY MUSCLES. FEELS BETTER THAN THE

KNOTS.

I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU & OTHERS SOME. WHAT WORKS FOR ME MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU.

WISHING YOU THE BEST IN YOUR SLEEP STUDY. I'LL LOOK OUT FOR YOUR POSTINGS IN

CASE YOU HAVE ANY ?.

I HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A RELATIVELY PAIN FREE DAY.

conduction (sp?) study done on my back and was then sent for more

tests on my back --- that was one of the many tests to see what was

going on with my lower back. I had to have two sleep studies done ---

never went to sleep the first time and really did not reach RIM

sleep for more than 5 or 10 minutes the second time. So, I have just

accept it that I am a chronic insomonica and put up with that!

Don't know if that helps you or not --- the sleep study is just a bit

strange because they put lines down each leg and I think something on

your head so they can watch what is going on. What I didn't

appreicate is that I really can't fall asleep with out reading and

you really can't do that.
