Guest guest
Hey ya'll , has any one else had EMG's and nerve testing? I had one Friday and of course they say it is only going to prick a little with the " Tiny needle " and then make your muscles dance. Lordy, I thought I was going to go through the bed, now I have a huge knotted muscle on my upper arm that is sore as can be. and the lower arm is tender to touch of course. my neck feels like some one over stretched the muscles and a nest of bee's moved in. Any suggestions on how to make the pain go away. my meds sure aren't. And on Thursday they are doing a sleep test due to no sleep meds working for me. has any one had that study done. I had to have two sleep studies done --- never went to sleep the first time and really did not reach RIM sleep for more than 5 or 10 minutes the second time. So, I have just accept it that I am a chronic insomonica and put up with that! Don't know if that helps you or not --- the sleep study is just a bit strange because they put lines down each leg and I think something on your head so they can watch what is going on. What I didn't appreicate is that I really can't fall asleep with out reading and you really can't do that. > Be a better friend, newshound, and > know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Guest guest
I've had the Emg study done and the nerve test and I never want to go thought that again. I cried for days and was black and blue. It hurt worse on my legs. I am 61 and have had 18 operations and nothing has made me cry like I did when they did those test. I'm not trying to scare anyone but, wow never again do I want those tests done again. You do what you have to do i guess. At least they found out I am showing no feeling on the right side. Due to my neck and back surgery i'm sure. enough out of me. God bless. Little LINDA --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip . I don't think I will ever want that done either. I have heard of it. It sounds very uncomfortable. Really more painful for those of us with fibro I am sure. love and hugs, Debra wrote: I've had the Emg study done and the nerve test and I never want to go thought that again. Guest guest
Well I told them I had Fibromyalgia and the answer was a grunt. after the neuro dr finished he told me to make sure to keep my appointment with the neck and back dr. he would only tell me ,yep you have nerve impengment in your neck but i can not really tell which nerve root is causing all the problems.. I wanted to slap him but my arms felt like lead weights. Diane --- debra van ness wrote: > Thanks for the tip . I don't think I will ever > want that done either. I have heard of it. Guest guest
a nerve conductive study is the same as the EMG , i go in thursday for the sleep study evaluation appointment. but like you i have a feeling i will not fall asleep on the night of the study. shoot i can stay up for 72 hours with out a nap. for years i worked on the ambulance on 24 hour shifts running calls all hours of the day and night. so this might be a problem, my body just misses the abuse of EMS.lol Diane --- wrote: > > > > > Hey ya'll , has any one else had EMG's and nerve > > testing? > > I had one Friday and of course they say it is > only > > going to prick a little with the " Tiny needle " and > > then make your muscles dance. > > Lordy, I thought I was going to go through the > bed, > > now I have a huge knotted muscle on my upper arm > that > > is sore as can be. and the lower arm is tender to > > touch of course. > > my neck feels like some one over stretched the > > muscles and a nest of bee's moved in. > > Any suggestions on how to make the pain go away. > my > > meds sure aren't. > > > > And on Thursday they are doing a sleep test due > to no > > sleep meds working for me. > > has any one had that study done. > > > > Diane > > > > > >Don't know if I have had an emg test, but I have > had a nerve > conduction (sp?) study done on my back and was then > sent for more > tests on my back --- that was one of the many tests > to see what was > going on with my lower back. Guest guest
Diane, Can't answer about the EMG study, but have had 2 diff sleep studies. There is no real pain involved in a sleep study. They hook up EEG and EKG stuff, plus a pulse oximeter - you are " wired " for sound so to speak and you sleep. The room I was in was very comfortable and while it was weird having all that equipment on me, well, it was so they could see what I was (or wasn't doing) while I slept. That's how they found out I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. The 2nd time I had it done, they actually had a cpap machine (continuous positive airway pressure) hooked up to me as well and it took the technician bumping it up to 19 (out of 20) before my episodes of stopping breathing ceased. I now use a bi-pap machine and find it works quite well.
