Guest guest
I just was trolling and saw this thread. I have to stick up for Margaret a bit here. I'm not Christian and there has been several times where I have felt uncomfortable or was offended by some off putting comment that someone of " faith " has made on here. In fact, there was a period of time when I was beginning to wonder, despite the " group information " otherwise, that this group really had a Christian bent on things. While I appreciate that there are many different faiths, organized religions, aspects of spirituality, I do not feel the need to throw mine into anyone's face or to wear it on my sleeve as the " whole " of who I am. I understand that if I went around making a P.A. about my beliefs and faith that I would probably make people uncomfortable (who do not share the same beliefs) uncomfortable and would probably trigger many stigmatic reactions (no pun intended). I think the point is, people should be free to express themselves no matter what their beliefs but really need to be MINDFUL of others unlike themselves. It is nearly impossible to control any mention of religion in a forum. Nor should there be censorship in a public forum. I think it really boils down to common courtesy from everyone (believers and non-believers alike). Not shoving ones believes down another's throat. Not making snide comments. If there is an issue, taking it up with the moderators of the group, rather than have flame wars or people telling other people what they should or should not say; or if they are allowed to express their thoughts and feelings on things. So yeah, speaking as someone who is the religious/spiritual minority, I can see where Margaret is coming from. But we all have to remember, we are all here b/c we share a common thread. We all have Fibromyalgia, know someone who does, or suffer from some chronic pain condition. It is hard enough to deal with on a daily basis without adding negativity to the mix.
