Guest guest
Dear All Just a brief update. finally got to come home after 18 days in in patient for severe refractory depression. The ECT's seem to be bringing her back from a very black pit of gloom. yea~ BUT she was re hospitalized last night. It is unclear if it is due to a medication side effect, plain ol stress of "re entering" pseudo life at home, or possibly just a rarer more pronounced SHORT term side effect from ECT. During the 18 days I was on the unit (daily), I saw many who seemed similar to , and most were at this particular center for the same sorts of reasons. They see the most severe cases, and use ECT and meds aggressively. (insurance of course sees to it that no one gets even 5 minutes of time more than is absolutely necessary to be able to walk upright out the door!)..ok I feel better....... I am happy to report that I have seen this procedure be almost unbelievably effective in most everyone who this treatment is selected for in the 18 days there, including promising signs for (in spite of the extreme short term price she is now paying in her case). Of course it doesn't hurt that the doc is well experienced (done 44,000 so far!), and the staff know very well all the ends and outs. Sooooooo keep us in your warm thoughts. I also wanted to say a huge THANK YOU ALL for your kind words, encouragement, prayers, good thoughts, and sage advice. Please understand that YAHOO has once again kicked me out of the group randomly so I have been BLIND to the groups activities for about a week. I get my PSC emailed automatically to me as separate emails. I like this format, but it seems for no reason about every 3-4 months I start getting "soft bounces" which means I don't get PSC mail. ANY IDEAS out there? It is clearly beyond me. I never visit YAHOO or the actual PSC site where you can do other things........so for me it is a mystery why this happens.
