Guest guest
I'm unable to metabolize tylenol. If ultram contains acetaminophen, my understanding is that it is marketed as ultracet. Tramadol/ultram do not have acetaminophen in them, is the way it was explained to me. Believe me, if tramadol had acetaminophen, my eyes would be yellow, as well as have other liver toxicity symptoms, as I lack the specific enzyme to break down acetaminophen in the liver. I also am allergic to narcotics, and cannot have any of the oxycodones or anything of that family, so no percodan, percocet, darvocet, etc. The docs discovered my allergy to tylenol when I had my third hip surgery, when I had the left hip finally totally replaced. Due to my drug allergies, they used morphine for only 24 hours, and I had to be taken off it while still in the hospital. They switched me to tylenol, and sent me home 4th day post-op. By day 7, my eyes were as yellow as dandelions and I was in the ER. I have no such symptoms from the tramadol, or the extended release ultram. It is metabolized differently than acetaminophen, is the way my doc explained it to me. I can take ibuprofin with the tramadol when I have alot of pain, and I do tend to alternate them so as to keep pain relief up between doses when I'm flaring. girlsaylor > > The base of Tramadol is acetaminophen just like Tylenol, but with a " kicker " added to it. So if you are allergic to Tylenol you may be allergic to Tramadol as well. Be careful. > > Ruthie > >
