Guest guest
, I took Effexor for a couple years. If I ever missed a dose I was in bed deathly ill. My brother had a doctor switch him off Effexor suddenly one time and he wound up in ER. The withdrawals are horrible. Fortunately, most doctors have figured out to give you a small dose to start with and ease both up and down. When I started taking it I was just on a high dose instantly. It wasn't until my brother told me what happened to him that I realized what was causing my sickness. I was trying to stop my meds because I couldn't afford them (previous job / decreased benefits). I went cold turkey and was sick for a week. Needless to say I went back on it and weaned off. Things have changed and I'm now on Cymbalta. It's way easier and for the most part I haven't noticed any side effects to speak of. Over time it tapers the highs and lows and does help with pain. Unfortunately, Fibro (and Lupus for me) are a hit and miss sort of thing when it comes to medications. We just have to give things a try to find out if they are going to help. Ok I have good reason for being afraid to take anything new.Back in 2004,right before my hubby deployed to Iraq for a year,my doc put me on Effexor. Oh what a horrible day! I had a REALLY bad reaction to it! I felt like hot tingly things were crawling on my skin.Since then I have new meds anxiety. Now its actually a phobia! I need to get past this but its so hard for me.I want to feel better and not be so chronically fatigued! I get mad from being tired all the time! It makes me NUTS!!! Knowledge is a good remedy for fear. Do some reading and research into Cymbalta. Talk to the doctor if you're afraid to take it. It can be a helpful med for some people. If your doc is doing it right, he's starting you at a low dose and will increase it slowly. Notice what, if any, effect it's having on your pain, and what side effects you're having. The drugstore includes a pamphlet that will tell you what to look for. You and your doctor must evaluate how you react to the drug in terms of side effects, and effectiveness. Did he tell you to call him after a period of time and tell him how you're doing? Remember, " natural " isn't the same as " safe " or " effective " . Some natural remedies can be good. Some are a good way to separate us from money. ;D Read and ask your doc about anything you take, especially if you're on any prescription medicines. " Natural " stuff can sometimes interact with prescription meds. And you'll never know how you'll react to the Cymbalta if the RX sits in your purse. ;D Z
Guest guest
, I know you are afraid to take the cymbalta but try it, if at all possible. It has helped me greatly. I can tell when I have missed one, all the muscles in my chest start feel like they are pulling and my arms feel as if they weigh a 1000 lbs. I can take it and will feel better within an hour. And they help me with my mood most of the time. At least I am not on anyones hit list now that I am on cymbalta, before that everyone was afraid to speak to me. hope you feel better soon. nancy wrote: Good evening everyone.I wanted to ask some questions and some other things. Guest guest
, To help with my energy levels I take a B-12 complex vitamin. I also take a Green Tea tablet that helps with the energy but also helps with the swellign in my legs and feet. My daughter is on melatonin to help her get to sleep at night. N. My doctor realizes this and works with me to feel comfortable with what I take. He gives me choices between this medication and that, he talks with me about the benefits of each, and he never has be start more than one medication at a time. Since he has been doing this, I am much better at taking new medications. The other thing I do is to take my medications before I head home. I take it right away and then wander around shopping or going out to eat...I give myself some time to see if I'm going to have any reaction right away, and by shopping or whatever I keep my mind busy so I don't think about it. I have also had a couple of reactions to medications...there have been a couple of antidepressants that I just couldn't deal with. They changed my personality for the worse! Then I found I have an allergy to a couple of things so I understand how having those reactions makes you feel. I think one of the issues with fibro seems to be hightened anxiety. So, I'm here with you. I have to say that I don't agree with you that a 'natural' medication is any different. You can react to anything, and any form you take it in can interact with other medications you are taking. So the best thing to do is to talk with your doctor no matter what format you chose your meds to come in. Hang in there...I'm with you on this one!
