Guest guest
I constantly push mine back. It is almost a nervous habit. LOL. I have the half moons on the thumbnails but not on the fingers. I also noticed that all these ridges started the last 4 or 5 years when the fibro moved in full time. Of course, this never really occured to me that it was a product of fibro until I started talking to others with it and discovered how many of us have these horrible ridges and no half moons on the fingernails. I guess I don't understand why they are on the thumbnails but not the fingernails. (another fibro mystery). And of course everyones nails are not this way with fibro, but sure is alot of us. love and hugs, Debra V. wrote: I'm not trying to upset anyone with this, but my aunt has been a cosmetologist for over 35 years and I am very good friends with numerous cosmetologists in the area where I live. When I asked about the crescents I was basically told that most people do not push their cuticles back, either with an orange stick or with their own fingernails. This should be done at least twice a day after washing hands or bathing. If you don't push them back regularly, the cuticle will grow out to the point it will cover the crescent. When I was in high school, I stopped pushing mine back (for no reason really, just got lazy). I saw at that point that my cuticles were covering my crescents. Within a month of me pushing my cuticles back, the crescents were becoming visible again. Same thing goes for your toes. The only crescent you can barely see is the one on my pinky fingers. I'd suggest trying to push your cuticles back for a while and see if the crescents become visible. --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage. Guest guest
ME too! When nervous or bored I'd sit and push them back. I got fake nails at Christmas time and that took away my 'something to do' when nervous or bored. debra van ness wrote: > I constantly push mine back. It is almost a nervous habit.
