Guest guest
I have an appointment tomorrow at a dermatology center near my home. The only thing is I am meeting with a nurse practitioner instead of the dermatologist. If I need to get on oral antibiotics, can the nurse prescribe these? Also, is the advice I will be getting from this person as good as the derm's advice? I am just at my wits end as in my area I have been to several derms and didn't like any of them. What I like is this is a woman, whom I think can understand my worries/problems more. Also, at least I don't have to wait until September (which I just can't) for a visit. Thanks for any thoughts. Guest guest
Charlene, I'm a Kaiser Permanente member, so I end up seeing nurse practitioners a lot. In every case, I have found them to be significantly less rushed than physicians, and, consequently, much more willing to listen and speculate. For something like rosacea, I would think seeing an NP could be really helpful. I don't know if they can prescribe or not. I think I have heard that they can. Good luck! --beth
