As to the annoying unsubscribe messages that routinely pop up, I've

noticed that membership in the group has risen quite a bit in the last

week, from around 290 to 307 today. I think you're right, Dave, people

just turn to anything with " 12 steps " in the title. You can't blame

them, really; AA is totally ineffective, yet claims to be totally

effective and tells the poor suffering individual that the problem is

they're not working their program hard enough. AA is like the old West

outlaw who shoots at someone's feet and orders them to dance: just

dance a little faster, degrade yourself a little more, tithe over a

little more of your life to the program until there's nothing left of

your identity, then you'll be fine and our slogans and platitudes will

seem meaningful.

As Bjørn said of 12 step free: keep writing back, it works.
