baron,

and if a person has thyroid disease in the family...the thyroid can fail very

fast from the lithium. I know three BDD sufferers that happened to...all

young folks.

you do know there's some research linking bipolar and thyroid antibodies?

doesn't ms cause lesions on the brain, also? it seems to have a real

physiological impact on the brain, is what i remember reading.

yes, baron, that is correct. My best friend has MS, but she also has

a lot of symptoms that resemble hypoT. I remember her telling me that

it's more common in some geographical areas of the US too. Her yearly

check ups include a scan of her brain to see if there are new lesions.

And the meds she takes I think could very easily make the thyroid not

function. Some of those meds are like taking chemotherapy for cancer.

They do as much harm as they do good. :-(

Yea...I had lots of rude comments thrown my way when I did that on a BDD

board. But i also had lots of emails from folks who were so thankful for the

information and have gone to their doctor and gotten tested. All were either

hypo

diagnosed or low T3 but still in range.

But with bipolar, there really is a lot of info already out there about its

link to bipolar...so it might be easier.

i've told a good friend who has fibro all this stuff...and for her to please

ask her doctor to get tested...but has it done any good? no. it's so hard to

save the world sometimes. sigh.

is!!! The past few weeks have been very bad for me in relation to

which day is which --- I think that was because I could not remember

just how long it had been since my dear, sweet friend called to say

her cancer was end stage. I was checking papers, calling old

classmates, made the mistake one day of calling her house --- glad

that I will not have any reason to contact her husband any more.

And I am pretty certain this nasty, all pervasive attack of the worst

bout of fibro I have had in years was the not knowing how she was.

And then when her sister called and I called her back, I was more

upset when she told me that her brother-in-law refused to let hospice

come in and help them!! It had to be hard enough on Lola to watch

her baby sister die (and also the last surviving one of her two

YOUNGER sisters!) I know in the past, the responsibilty was

something the family did, but now there was NO reason that I can

understand why he refused hospice!

I know we all have dear friends and each one is important just

because of their unique personality, but I think that the loss of K

is hurting more than some of the others might!

Thank goodness doctor let my husband go to her office and pick up a

script for percocet -- got high on a whole one, so today only took

1/2. But there is a big vacant spot in my heart, now. And those of

us who had gone to school with her from kindergarten through 8th

grade were calling daily for news!!!

I am planning to fly to Vegas between K's birthday and mine and then

make a trip to the Grand Canyon, where I plan to toss some rosemary

into the Canyon in rememberance of her (that's another reason I am

upset with her husband, he refused to go with her last spring, never

heard his reason, but one would think that you would accompany spouse

who knows her time is short and this is the last trip she wants to

take!!!)

I do apologize for my rambling, but this is such a hard time for me.

and I am just glad I have a place to vent!
