Jen, that is so cool! I was born and raised in Centreville Va. I know what

you mean about the traffic, my family still lives there and when I visit I

hate going anywhere because of it. I live in a very rural area now ( 45

minutes to get to grocery store!) and I don't miss that area at all.

Hello all! I have just joined this list thanks to a referral from Patty.

(Patty, I found it!)

My name is and my son, Seth, was born on August 25th, 1999. I had a

pretty easy pregnancy and completely natural labor and delivery with Seth.

We have been breastfeeding since day one and are still continuing to do it.

Seth nurses at 6:30 am, then gets cerel around 8:00 am, then a bottle of EBM

around 10:00 am, another bottle of EBM around 2:30 pm, nurses from me at

5:30 pm, then cerel and we just started trying solids about three weeks ago

(so far green beans, peas and carrots) around 7:00 pm, nurses from me around

8:00 - 8:30 pm for bed and then sometimes he gets up once during the night

for a quick nursing again. When Seth was first born I was just going to try

breastfeeding, then I wanted to bf until he was 6 weeks, then it was until I

went back to work (9 weeks), then it was 3 months, then it was 6 months, and

now that Seth is almost 6 months old, my goal is now a year or whenever we

are ready to wean. I really enjoy the bonding and convience of

breastfeeding and hate to give it up!

I am a first time proud Mommy and obviously new to breastfeeding also. I

hope to gain some great knowledge, helpful advice, etc. from this list.

and Seth (8/25/99)

Hi ,

We sound a lot alike. I'm also on my first (and last) baby. I thought I'd make

it to a year breastfeeding, but my 6 month old boy, (8/2/99) and I are enjoying

this so much, and it's so good for him, I'm not setting a time limit.

I do a lot of lurking around here, but have learned sooo much. These ladies are

GREAT!

Welcome,

Leslee

Welcome to the list. glad to have you here. Congratulations on your

evolving committment to breastfeeding. That is how it happens for many of

us. I nursed my dd for a year but then committed to nursing my next for two

years. I am now nursing my son and he is 27 months. I don't see weaning

anytime soon and that's fine with me.

Hi ! Glad you made it!

I hope everyone can answer any questions that arise.

Remember the other day when we were talking about what would happen if

slept through the

night (since I pump a bottle for him when I get up). Well, I emailed this list

and Wendi (she's

great) said that my body should figure it out since I've been doing it all

along. YEAH!

Anyway, I would tell you all about me, but you already know!

Welcome!

Hi Chelly! Thanks for the welcome to this list -- hope I can keep up with

both. I am sure that I have spoke to you a few times on the August Moms

list. Aren't you the one that sent the cool picture of Trenton's party days

with his friends? I just loved that picture!

Hey Barbara,

Welcome to the journey to a better us!!!! This is soooo exciting. And to think we met while we were quitting smoking and you beat that better than I did. You can definitely beat this too. Just take it one day at a time.

Weezie

Introduction

Hi

My name is Barbara and I just joined your group (thanks for the invite, Weezie). I quit smoking cigarettes on June 15, 2001 and have gained 28 1/2 pounds. None of my clothes fit and my wedding ring is so tight it hurts my finger. Today I went to my local Weight Watchers center and signed up as a member. I'm going to attend the meetings there and I'm hoping to get more motivation from this group. I'm really afraid of failing at this. I think I'm more addicted to food than I was to cigarettes.

I noticed that you had over 4,000 messages in the month of May - I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with reading all the posts so I might have to switch to web-only. I'll try it on individual emails for now and see how it goes. I'm looking forward to reading your files and bookmarks. I've already printed out the "Article--Tips to get 5 fruits and veggies a day" that Riza posted. Thanks Riza.

Faith,

You deserve it. Only those with infinite amounts of patience and love

for those who can't take care of themselves are chosen to be one of the

special few to help others. I think it's wonderful!

My daughter has epilepsy, too. SCD has not totally resolved that..... but she is

better on the diet than off. She has a congenital brain abnormality, so it could

be that she will always have a lower seizure threshold. Anyway, ......You asked:

<<Alright, finally to her question.

She was wondering if anyone with experience with epilepsy knows if there is

any kind of a supplement that would help the healing process along. Kind of

like, peppermint can help with inflammation, or vitamin c can help when you

have a cold. She hasn't been able to do research, so does anyone know?

Also, I told her that a good multivitamin would be good.anyone have a scd

legal, good vitamin brand name in mind for children?>>

Magnesium can help...... but I would use magnesium glycinate, I think..... if

possible. Magnesium is really critical to supporting seizure control.... but

many forms (such as mag oxide or citrate) are not absorbed well or can make

yeast more of a problem. Magnesium glycinate isn't very tasty, though...... so

it's tough to give a legal one unless the child can swallow a tablet or capsule.

Another direction to go might be with any of the supplements that are geared

toward increasing glutathione...... as Mindy posted recently, many seizure meds

work by blocking glutamates, and that's what glutathione does (in my simple

minded understanding of it..... I have not done intensive research on this). I

am thinking about starting Katera on NAC (n-acetyl cysteine).... because it

helps support the liver AND raises glutathione levels. I know many of our

seizure kids, if they have been on seizure meds in the past, could use some

liver support as the meds really wreck havoc on it....... plus they are

clearing a lot of toxins with SCD. Of course, EFA oils would be a really

important component, too........ we use fish oil and sunflower oil right now

but I'm looking into others. It can be overwhelming to go too many directions at

once so I only wish I didn't need to sleep so I could research everything I want

to. As far as multiples, the Freeda SCD multiple vitamin is a good one........ I

need to order more but I was grinding up the tablets and mixing into

applesauce..... and it doesn't seem to have a strong or unpleasant taste.

www.freedavitamins.com . Hope that helps.....

Hello everyone, my name is Jenn and I have been apart of this group for awhile

but just now writing my introduction....

I have been following or doing intuitive eating for 2 years. Before this I was

in a cycle of binge eating that was out of control. I finally reached the end

of myself and realized that I could not control it on my own and sought

professional help. I went to Remuda Life Program in Arizona, and was diagnosed

with an eating disorder. Which totally made sense. It was there that I was

introduced to the Intuitve eating way. There I was able to deal and discover the

reasons why I sought food for comfort and was able to get the counseling that I

desperatly needed. It saved my life. So now I use the new coping skills that I

learned and have had no binges for 2 years now. I am tempted when things get

stressful, or I get upset or emotional, but thank goodness I now know how to

handle it. This group seems very supportive and I am glad that I am apart of

it. Because support is very important when you are in recovery from an eating

disorder. Thanks and I look forward to being involved :)
