Guest guest
, Thanks - It's all a work in progress - It started with www.zaloudek.net and that never really went anywhere, I think Christmas lists were the most used item. There are a few disconnected pages from vacations like these best viewed in Internet Explorer: http://www.zaloudek.net/acadia/ http://www.zaloudek.net/Shenandoah/ My original intention was to register zaloudek.net specifically to be able to use mike@... as my Email address. The hosting is through www.afmu.com. They have a free hosting for $25 a year (includes domain registration) that has a basic amount of space and one mysql database. The $50 plan I have gives more space and additional mysql databases. (msql is used for certain programs that run on the site. In my case, one mysql database runs the psc.zaloudek.net page) http://bike.zaloudek.net is my bike page. the bike and psc pages are called subdomains and you can have a bunch of those that are like separate websites. Free options would be blogger (a google owned website) or Google has a new "pages.google.com" but they got too popular I think and had to temporarily stop new registrations. Blogger is pretty cool. In any case I can offer any help needed. Bike riding - I did 70 miles today, I wanted to do 90, but it got late and I had to volunteer for a community cleanup and then poop patrol in my own yard (2 100+ LB dogs) I am charging my lights as I type (I can ride at night no problem) but they are not charged yet and I might not get out there since it is almost 10PM. Actually I barely have the energy. I have been without the Actigall for a few (5) days now and I feel a little off. I was hoping the mail order would come today so I hope Monday it gets here. Duh - I just figured out why the lights were not charged yet, I had it on the "overnight" mode. I may ride tonight after all. I don’t know for sure that he’s made a final decision to do the web thing but if he does, would you mind if I contacted you off list if we have questions? (Might not be for another month or so.) Guest guest
Thanks for the nice words - remember the tush pain doesn't last - I did 70 on Saturday and 20 Miles on Sunday with 1000+ feet of climbing and no tush pain. More importantly my knees "appear" (knock on wood) to be doing fine after a bike adjustment that was somewhat major. Certainly a risky move 1 week before a long trip. I already am feeling hamstring muscles that I forgot I had. I may try to go back to bed and do another 20 Miles in 1 1/2 hrs. Guest guest
Mike, You continue to AMAZE me!!! I get exhausted just reading your posts. Is there anyway when you get close to the hotel next week that you can call one of us so we can all be outside to cheer you on when you pull up to the hotel! I also didn't forget that I originally said that if you rode your bike to Pittsburgh that I would be one of your contributers...I will add my name to your t- shirt when you get here and give you my check. Good luck with your continued training for this very grueling, but rewarding trip. See you in Pittsburgh!!! Guest guest
Sounds like a plan - If I could get some Cell phone numbers, I can certainly call a few miles out. Check with the hotel - I may need Oxygen and an IV plus an Ibuprofin smoothie. I would love for you to sign the shirt - There is still a little room. I think the signatures might be over the 400 mark by then. I did make it out this morning for only 16 miles, but at a fast pace. I rode with a group of 5 and normally in a group, you rotate the lead person as he or she is the one taking all the wind and working the hardest. Today on the way back I used the conference and the PA trip as a motivator on my turn at the front, The knee was feeling good and I knew I was not riding tomorrow (yet) and so I gave it all I had for the last 4-5 Miles by myself at the front and was able to hold 22-23MPH the whole way. Feels good to be back "on." I have a group of 4-5 taking me the first 10 miles, two others taking me the next 30 miles and one guy riding with me the first day. With his help I might be able to do over 100 the first day, leaving less for day 2 and 3, but it will all work itself out on the road. Guest guest
I just want to say hello to everyone! I'm Mike Z's sister, Liz; I usually don't say too much; I'm here more to listen and to support my brother. I saw these last couple of posts about a cheerleading group as Mike approaches the hotel and I got teary-eyed just thinking about how much of an accomplishment all this is for him; I was wondering if anyone could possibly tape/record such a wonderful moment for me and my family to maybe view online or some other way. I know that my parents and everyone would love to see all the amazing love & support this incredible group shows to each other. I wish all of you the best and pray that this upcomming PSC Conference is an awesome experience for all of you! Guest guest
Joanne - Would the local Pittsburg station sports or community health reporter be interested in a long distance bike rider coming into town - for a good cause? If you didn't have time to call, would someone else be willing to try to pique the local news interest - who knows what might then be broadcast about PSC, Mike and the conference?!! Guest guest
Joanne, I contacted all the media avenues through a press release a few months ago about the conference. A local medical correspondent is doing a piece on PSC on the local news and including information on the conference;that is being done on April 4th. Unfortunately noone else would pick up the PSC Conference. I have personally writted to Mike asking his permission to send out a press release on his bike ride. I didn't want to do this without him agreeing to it. Once I get the go ahead I will write a press release for the Pittsburgh area and distribute it. Thanks.
