Guest guest
I had an awful time with fentanyl. Keep in mind I was rapidly losing weight and the pain was so bad. I was on 100mcg and it got to the point where I was so weak that eventually I was blacking out face first on a daily basis. I was let go from job of 10 years because many days I just couldn't make it there. By the time my brother found me on the floor. February 25, 2007. a day I don't remember, but a date I'll never forget. By the time the rescue got to me and we put a time line together we figure I was unconscious for about 30 hours. I was within hours of being dead. My mom who passed away in 1988 came to visit me and told me it wasn't time. That's all I remember. I was in ICU for 4 days and then a good 2 weeks in my room. I had no muscle tone. My house was a mess because I couldn't even make it to the bathroom. add in 2 dogs and 2 cats and I left a heck of a mess for my brother. The hospital experience alone was one of the worst in my life. I'd rather hit the floor than go back there. My wonderful brother came into this house and cleaned it from top to bottom. I knew things were going downhill fast so I left a not for him to bring the dogs to my friend Marilyn and her husband Chuck. Chuck was happy to have his " big boy " back and everyone realized that it was a package deal. Eddy needed Jake. I had to learn to walk all over again and it was pure hell. My right leg was in constant pain. I was told it was because of the MRSA virus I had. That didn't fly with me, but no one would listen to me. So, I went home with no meds. what did they think. all that pain just magically went away. NO!!!! So, on April 25th I met a wonderful doctor when he was called into the waiting room of the health center I go to. He shipped me off to the hospital. AGAIN. The jackass original doctor sent me home with a huge DVT. If part of that broke off I could have been dead. or worse, brain dead. Honestly, I think it can be a good med. it is NOT a good med for me. If you sense something is going wrong call your doctor and shout until you are heard. I got tired of being treated like I'm a nut case. The health center people have been wonderful. they've cheered me on every step of the way. I'll never be normal again and part of that is because I have some brain damage from being so malnourished. I even joked that it had been almost 2 years since I had a period. I'll be 51 in April. I now have a period again and the doctors are thrilled. they say it is proof that my nutritional status is back. Easy for them to say. I don't want to scare you, but I really feel it is my duty to let people know these things can happen. Oh, I also had a condition where this medicine would build up in my system. I don't know why we didn't think of it, my mom had the same problem with morphine. Good luck and be careful. Now the doctor's couldn't figure out why, but my family doctor helped me the best she could...the only thing that has worked is a duragesic patch...I finally had relief from the burning, numbness, pin prinks, the searing pain, the heaviness in my legs and arms.. it didn't take it away, but I was able to function. To make the story short ...has anyone out there used the patch for Fibro? (btw...I was taken off of it a month ago...cold turkey...my doctor had heart surgery and the doctor that I had to see said I was nothing but a drug addict and refused to help me...I have NO pain meds right now...and to be honest, I can't lay still long enough to get any sleep). Anyone out there get relief from the pain.. and how... Thanks for listening Anita
