I have a small jar of tiger balm that I have used off an on throughout the last

few years. I used it on my shoulder and upper back when it hurt before I had my

shoulder surgery. If I could find the darned little jar I would probably put

some on my lower back and see how it feels.

My mom uses peppermint oil and puts a damp, hot rag on it. Feels good!

I've used Tiger Balm on myself and my husband. I was majorly sucked in by

the name and packaging, but it works about like the other balms and

ointments out there. I wish it came in a little bit bigger jars - theirs

are so tiny.

The WORST I've ever used was Capsasin, but that's because I didn't obey the

directions when they said to use gloves to put it on. My hands

BURNEDand sweated intermittenly for 2 or 3 days. It was INTENSE heat. I

threw that rediculous crap in the garbage.

The best I've used (so hubby says, because I use all these on HIM) is some

kind of Blue Emu oil cream.

If I buy cream for myself it's extra strength Flex-All. I want to buy this

stuff my sister gets from her chiropractor - although I don't know what it's

called. It comes in a spray bottle and the couple of times I used it, it

worked well.

Back to Tiger Balm....I guess they want people to think it is infused with

or contains some tiny tiger parts or bits which are revered by Chinese

culture with almost magical healing properties -- but very rare, expensive,

difficult, if not dangerous to procure. Hence tiny jar, not tiny price. I

am a sucker, I still think it's cool. I like the smell too. (yeah, I know

I'm weird) I still keep a jar of Tiger Balm in my arsenal at all

times...among other things. (BUT NO CAPSASIN)

No, I don't think it's that. It's like that " Tiger Milk " that you

get at health food stores. Nobody thinks there's actually milk from

tigers in it. I was born in the Year of the Tiger, but I don't have

stripes. ;D The name implies the strength and daring of a tiger.

RRRRRRAAAAAAWWWWWRRRRRRR!!!!! ;D
