Hello,

My name is Robyn. I am a 26 year old SAHM. I have 3 children, Darby(5)

nursed for 10 months, Zoe(3 1/2) nursed for two years, and Ethan (8 1/2 months)

still nursing. My husband is we have been married for 6 years. He works

on the railroad and has CRAZY hours! I am in my first year of homeschooling and

it is going great.I find being on a list is some kind of connection to the

outside world. We try to live life pretty simply around here, all this new

millennium technology doesn't appeal to me, I just want to raise great kids!!

So here is my first question. I am NOT ready to stop nursing but am

interested in ttc, any ideas? I didn't get my cycle till I stopped nursing with

my other kids. Is there any ways to trick my body? I would have no opposition to

tandem nursing.Thought someone might have an idea.

Robyn

For almost a week I had to wake up every 3 hrs to feed him! (at

night!) I know how that feels! ICK!

na,

Keep waking him, he will need that until at least all the jaundice is gone.

Strip him down to a diaper and make sure the sun shines on him through the

window. This will help break down the bilirubin in his tissue. Let me know

what his level is. Nurse him as long as he wants on each side. You really

want to flush out the jaundice. :D

Becky,

That is so great to hear! We had the follow up appointment this morning and

the doctor did say he looked a little better. They took more blood

<<cringe>> and hopefully his bilirubin levels are down... we'll find out

tomorrow! Thankfully today is a sunny day, so I think I will nurse him by

the window. He's been incredibly sleepy lately, so much to the point I have

to wake him up to feed him!

,

My maternity leave is 6 weeks long, of which I have about 4 weeks left. I wish I

could take longer, however my leave is unpaid, and we really need to be a two

income household. My husband is in the military, and let's just say we can't

support a family on his income. I am very interested in pumping, in fact we are

going to buy a pump tonight. We are looking at the Medela single pump... any

thoughts or suggestions?

I have the double pump since I'm away from Will for about 10 hours a day. I pump

4 times a day. I

seem to get more if I double pump. When I first started back to work when Will

was 7 weeks old, I

was single pumping. I was getting a lot, but I get more double pumping.

Sharon,

I think many of us had that 12 month goal, but found that our nurslings had

the need beyond that time. It's a great goal to have I think, however. My

second son nursed until he self weaned at around 18 months. I will have our

newest member self wean too.

Mira,

I not sure why it's worse at night and some mornings for me, but that's

the way it is. I've read a lot of different articles about pancreatitis

and several of them mention that the pain gets worse at night. I don't

think even the doctor's know except that it's also known in the medical

community that the late evening hours are the " low " point of most

people's metabolisms and that this is when things like sickness, colds,

pain, etc, tend to feel the worst. Someone else mentioned that since our

bodies are 98% water, they are also affected by the Moon, just like

tides. How sure that is, I couldn't say, but it's as good a theory as

any other.

My doctor has prescribed pain medication for me to take when the pain

hits and I usally end up taking one at night before bed, as well as a

nausea pill as mine seems to get worse at night to. Hope this is of

some help.

Hello Kay,

Just wanted to say " welcome! " You will find alot of very sweet

people here. I am happy you found us, only I wish you didn't have to

fight this awful illness every day of your life. I know how hard

that is! I have the same problems with doctors. They just don't

know what to tell me most of the time. It stinks, man! I hope you

will find some answers here, these people are so smart! Good luck to

you, my new friend. By the way, one of my twins middle name is Kay

and she loves it! She always puts Holly Kay on all of her papers at

school. I thought she would think it was a very old fashion name,

but she is very happy with it. I'm glad, that makes me happy too,

there are too many people who hate their middle names. Just wanted

to share that with you, sorry!

Lots of Hugs,

Kay,

first, get a new doctor, preferably a Gastroenterology specialist who

deals mainly with the pancreas if at all possible. Where do you live?

Possibly one of us who has a decent doctor lives nearby and can

recommend someone. You wouldn't believe the difference a cooperative

doctor can make.

The lowfat diet and no alcohol and low protein are the best things in

the way of eating. Plus pain pills to deal with the pain that occurs.

However, a specialist might be able to find other alternatives, which

might help with that too, which is why I recommend finding a doctor who

1) knows what they are doing and 2) is willing and eager to do their

best for you. It can make a difference. I've had chronic pancreatitis

for 14 years.
