Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear you've had such a hard time. Getting diagnosed doesn't necessarily help much. At least you know what's causing the pain. Hopefully this group will give you some info that might help you. Are you taking enzymes? Be sure to let your doctor know about the frequent bathroom visits. Your medication may need to be increased. Try not to get too discouraged. I know it's hard. You can read about my son, Mitch in the other e-mails I've recently sent. I just joined, also. Ask questions and read as much info as you can and educate yourself about this disease. God Bless! I know how terrible it is to suffer from chronic pancreatitis. Please tell your husband that I am thinking of him and praying for him and you. I had my pancreas removed and the islet from the pancreas transplanted into my liver so now I am cured of pancreatitis. I suffered from pancreatitis with just constant pain since 1985 and started having attacks in 1999. I was unable to eat since 1994 and had to live with tpn constantly. So as you can see I have been there and done that and I know what your husband is going through. It is so terrible. I look forward to reading your posts. Zephyr New member Hi there! I'm a brand new member to your list and look forward to all the support. My name is . I'm 34 years young. I've felt overweight my entire life but truly only been heavy the last 10 years or so, after I began having kids. I started WWOnline back in January and to date have lost 35 pounds. Man. It's such a tough battle for me. Why does it seem others seem to "melt" the pounds away when I seem to work so hard at it? But I'm really refining my thought processes about food and exercise and know I'm doing this the RIGHT way. Look forward to meeting you all, M. Guest guest
Three words - Appeal Appeal Appeal. Under " Search Archives " put United Healthcare or UHC and hopefully the information there, from myself and others on the board dealing with United Healthcare can provide some insight. Is it insurance through your work? If so, under law, the insurance is required to review your appeal within 15 days for pre-approval... if it's urgent (and with your surgery coming up this month, I'd push for this), they are required to have an answer within 72 hours under current ERISA laws. Good luck!! -Yooli > Hi, > I am new here. > I suppose to have surgery this month, but insurance denied. > I have United healthcare. > Any suggesstion what I should do. > Thanks

I under went the traditional 5 day IV steriod treatment and it did not help. Very frustrated with my eye. Am going to be starting AVONEX treatments in 3 days. I am excited and scared too. Guest guest
Hi, . Really sorry that you find yourself in this situation. We have another member with MS, and I'm pretty sure she's on Avonex--aren't you, Shirley? I hope your vision problems clear up soon--I had eye surgery the other year for a pseudotumor and I occasionally get blurred vision, but nothing like loss of vision and I hope it stays that way. Divorced with a teenager--been there, done that, glad I don't have to do it again, LOL My daughter, Kayly , is also on this group. I'm happily married, now. My daughter is 32 and my son is 28. Both are married and my daughter has two sons, 9 and 7. I guess I'd better tell my age, too, or Kayly will, just to get even, LOL. I'm 51. Welcome again, and jump in whenever you feel like it! Guest guest
Shanes,Welcome to the group! It sounds like you are off to a great start with the intuitive eating. I agree with Sohni that every meal that you eat intuitively is a lesson to both your body and head that things are changing for the better. Starting IE can be a very scary time. Be patient with yourself, and feel good about the progress you have already made! And keep us posted... no apologies needed, regardless of the length of the post! best, abby  Hi, I wish the internet had been around back when I was younger. Then maybe I wouldn't have gotten so far into the binge/purge cycle or could have broken it sooner. It's good for you that you've learned about IE and want to have a better relationship with eating and food. I know eating what you feel to be too much is frightening, even when it isn't a binge. I try to look at every episode as a learning experience, and think of it as being that much closer to normalizing my eating patterns.  You may find that letting go of obsessing over counting calories is very freeing, once you get over the shock of it. Welcome to the group! Sohni shanes744 wrote:  Hi I just recently joined. I have been reading a little about intuitive eating online. I am desperate for something to help me out of the cycle of restricting/bingeing. I have always had some trouble with anxiety/depression. At times it has been much worse than others. Since around high school, food has sometimes been a way for me to try and deal with those emotions. I went through a few month period in high school of severe calorie restriction. My weight has fluctuated up and down throughout my four years of college. For about half of that time, I have been obsessed with counting calories. It has been a major obsession over the past year. I lost alot of weight really fast due to a stressful relationship about a year and a half ago and was dead set on keeping that weight off. Of course once the relationship and the stress went away, I naturally gained weight. I was so stressed about gaining weight that I got into a habit of restricting alot then bingeing. At first the bingeing didn't happen very often so I wasn't too worried about it. During the last fall semester it was becoming more frequent and I could tell I was gaining more weight. I moved home for a month over Christmas because I switched schools to start graduate school. While I was home I ate fairly normally (only a few very small binges) and lost a few pounds. Once again, I was determined to keep it off. I moved to this school in January and did well for about the first month. In this past month I have gotten so obsessed with dieting that the diet/binge cycle has gotten out of control. Usually I plan what I am going to eat and eat really healthy during the day but binge at night after dinner when I'm alone. Although I like it here, I think I have always had trouble with change and this is my way of trying to cope with the anxiety. I'm scared though because it has really gotten out of control. Yesterday I tried to put the practice of IE into practice. I waited until I was hungry to eat and ate exactly what I wanted. Although I had a strong urge to binge, I resisted it. I was doing good today until I was hungry and wanted cookies. I ate way too many but note enough to feel uncomfortably full. It makes me feel alot less anxious to be able to eat what I want to. Hopefully it stops the binges. Sorry for writing a novel...didn't mean to write that much! --
Guest guest
Hello! I'm new to the support group. I have read Intuitive Eating three times. It is the first and only thing that has ever clicked with me. After dealing with eating issues all my life I am finally living without constantly thinking of what I am eating and what I can or can't eat. However, I still have struggles and thought joining this support group would be just what I need. I could go on and on - but all to say I am happy to be here! Hi, I wanted to introduce myself to this community. I am 36 years old and sick of diets, menu plans that count every calorie and fat gram, and regarding food as either a guilty pleasure or a joyless duty. Two years ago I was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. After surviving surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, I was told that I needed to maintain a very low fat diet to maximize my chances of long-term survival. I tried. I meticulously planned out every morsel, measured every ounce, and monitoring every bite. I was miserable. Eating lost all its joy and I would regard every "fatty" food as a cancer promoter. Worse, every time I ingested something forbidden, I felt I was inviting cancer back into my life. Gradually, I learned that the studies concluding that women with a very low fat diet increased their survival rates were quite flawed methodologically. Plus, I was not successful at dieting. Feeling extremely deprived, I cheated constantly and ended up actually gaining weight. I'm done with all of that. I love food and cooking and make everything from scratch. I'd like to enjoy eating again, not stuffing my face out of desperation or boredom. I'd also like to stop the cycle of self criticism and flagellation that goes with dieting. Glad to be here.
