However, at that time my doc believed that unless you got either some swelling or bruising than you would not get good results...this has been found to be untrue. However, I am still very sensitive and even though I have not bruised in several TX's I still had some minor swelling...just for your peace of mind you might want to take a day off after just so your not stressed about it...say do it on a Thursday and take Friday off and also the weekend...that way your covered just in case. Guest guest
Lance-- I've had 6 treatments so far. As for swelling, I had virtually none each time, except for a little bit right under my eyes--looked like I had bags under my eyes. It went away in about 24-48 hours. My face definitely felt tender for about 2-3 days and was probably slightly swollen, but you couldn't tell. The redness goes down gradually over the course of a week. Good luck to you... --- Lance wrote: > Hi all, > > Okay, this swelling issue is at the forefront of my > mind. Guest guest
Lance, you might as well come clean with them, that way they'll be more understanding. If you don't say anything and avoid it then that's worse because they don't understand. It may be hard to say but once it's said once, you never have to tell them again. Just say you're being treated for rosacea, not a big thing! Photoderm Swelling or smooth? > Hi all, > > Okay, this swelling issue is at the forefront of my mind. Guest guest
<<Okay, this swelling issue is at the forefront of my mind. According to the website on the photoderm treatments, it says " little or no down time. " But all I hear is this " swelling " that follows photoderm. If that is the case, why don't they say that a little louder. I did read where they say " you may get some swelling. " >> Hi Lance, This might not be the best answer, and perhaps I'm not the person to give it since I have had only minor postoperative swelling so far. When I decided to have this procedure done, I reviewed posts from several other people who had been treated, and saw that post-op swelling was *Unpredictable*. My philosophy is " hope for the best and prepare for the worst " . With this in mind, I scheduled my tx's so that I would have the next day off, no errands, nothing to do but sit at home and rest. This is how I am arranging all of my treatments. Furthermore, I am prepared to call in sick and cease all activities for several days, if I have to. So far I've been lucky; I could have gone right back to work the very next day after the 3 tx's I have had so far (but I didn't). Most patients, in most cases, are probably like me - some minor swelling - this would not affect my performance and would not attract much attention. However, this is not always the case based on what I have read while conducting my Own_Due_Diligence. As for the " no downtime " claims, they are probably correct In_Most_Cases. But hey! When I buy a new pair of tires, and the salesman tells me they will last 60,000 miles, do I believe him? I don't think so. Do you see where I am leading here? While I'm sure it varies, I start seeing signs of swelling several hours after a tx, and swelling is most pronounced the day after tx. I had moderate swelling after the first tx (cheeks and under the eyes), mild swelling after the second tx (under the eyes mostly) and virtually no swelling after the third tx. I hope this trend continues, but if I do have major problems after a tx, I'm not leaving the house until the swelling diminishes, and I'll stay in touch with my doc for advice, etc. Hope this helps.
