Guest guest
Just passing this along...... Michele From: " A. =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Sch=E4r-son?= " Hi Momwriters. New subject. I've been working for years on a book about lactation medicinals. No joke <S>. My research for " Ancient Tools " (see below) has been published in a German academic journal of ethnomedicine: 'curare', Sept. 1997. " Have Lactation Medicinals had an Influence on Culture? " The title of the WIP is " Ancient Tools of Motherhood " . It's a study of lactation medicinals in mythology and in cross-cultural traditions of medicine, among many other things. It's a rather academic subject, but then again, it relates to something every mother deals with--her success, or failure at nursing. Records of ethnobotany and also, of mythology (the names and plants associated with goddesses), tell us that women have always been concerned about finding plants and foods to support lactation. I'm looking for first-person stories of women who have used lactation medicinals, or even supported their lactation with oatmeal and almonds and such-like. I'm extremely grateful for anyone's input. I can do research until I'm blue in the face, but the book needs anecdotes to live and breathe for the reader. So please, if anyone has something to relate, take a moment and email me about it? Thanks--
