Guest guest
I had some thoughts on Rita's original post, wanting to duck the current discussion so sorry for 3rd person references! :-) Rita originally said: > Secondly, you apparently have a far different notion than I do > about what it means to " compromise one's integrity " . Some of us believe > that pretending to approve (even if by silent acquiescence) of an odious > activity forced on us illegally, is what would compromise our integrity. So e.g. religious marytrs who acquiesce in silence, compromise their integrity? Do those who turn to AA, close to death, and join for a time, in the (mistaken) belief that AA could help, compromise their integrity? Ah, this luxury of integrity! (I wonder what the real answer to this is? :-) Is one's " integrity " (or credibility?) more important than say (let me try to phrase this carefully) e.g. being abstinent *IF* one needs to be, not attending XA meetings, never using certain AA-commandered phrases or terms? Not having much success expressing this, anyone get my drift? Mack.
