The non believing nurse.... at work

I know I have told most of you about the nurse I work with. We have been on the

same shift for about 4 months now. She is a wonderful nurse and I really like

working with her. I feel like she is a friend..... except for the fibromyalgia.

She told me the first week we worked together about a " friend " she has with

fibro. She said she does not talk to her anymore because she is on too many

drugs and is just wanting someone to feel sorry for her all the time. (this did

hurt my feelings because she knows I have FM). I have mentioned fibro in

passing to several people... she goes dead silent. She says nothing. Silence

is probably worse than someone just saying " you are full of shit " .

Anyway, another nurse came to work for us. I found out she has fibromyaglia.

We started talking about it at the desk the other day. My " friend " went silent

again. The other woman and I talked about it for several minutes. I think that

this nurse who dumped her friend would have to face the fact that fibro is real

if she believed me. That might be too much for her to handle because she would

have to admit to herself that she threw her friend away for an imaginary disease

that is actually REAL.

Well, just venting again.

hugs,

Debra V.
