Guest guest
Sorry, had to add something. What will they do next? Are they going to lock the cookie isles in the grocery store and send the overweight people over to produce only??? I am so ticked about this I want to go get a gallon of ice cream and eat the whole damn thing. LOL.... Seriously, I am not that overweight but it sure makes me mad for someone to even suggest not serving people food because they are " obese " . I was watching CNN and they said something about a bill they are trying to pass in MIssissippi that would make it illegal for restaraunts to serve people who are obese. They would be fined! What the hell??????? I am a little overweight and I know that no one SHOULD be morbidly obese... but what the hell????? I cannot believe that anyone has a right to tell someone what or where they can eat? I don't care if you weight 600 pounds, if you can walk into an eating establishment, you should be able to eat whatever you want. It is an idividual choice, that is not for someone else to decide what to do with your body. I AM FLOORED. I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EARS..... help, did I hear it wrong. hugs to all big and small, Debra V. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Guest guest
Debra, Here are the details from the USA Today website: Bill would make it illegal to feed the obese Three legislators want to make it illegal for restaurants to serve obese customers in Mississippi. House Bill No. 282, which was introduced this month, says: Any food establishment to which this section applies shall not be allowed to serve food to any person who is obese, based on criteria prescribed by the State Department of Health after consultation with the Mississippi Council on Obesity Prevention and Management established under Section 41-101-1 or its successor. The State Department of Health shall prepare written materials that describe and explain the criteria for determining whether a person is obese, and shall provide those materials to all food establishments to which this section applies. A food establishment shall be entitled to rely on the criteria for obesity in those written materials when determining whether or not it is allowed to serve food to any person. The proposal would allow health inspectors to yank the permit from any restaurant that " repeatedly " feeds extremely overweight customers. The bill, written by GOP Rep. W. T. Mayhall Jr., was referred to the Judiciary and Public Health committees, but The Free Press doesn't expect it to garner much support in the statehouse. About two-third of Mississippians are considered overweight or obese, according to a recent analysis of federal health data.

Guest guest
I have to disagree about even fast food resturants being fined for not changing their menu. NOBODY FORCES PEOPLE TO EAT THINGS THAT ARE BAD FOR THEM!!! I'm sorry but nobody who is overweight can blame any other person, company, resturant, etc for them being overweight. It is OUR fault not Mcs because they cook hamburgers, cheeseburgers and fries. I have been fat all my life and NEVER have I even thought of blaming it on anyone else or any type of businses that serves food. Being fat is not a disease, it is not the responsibility of anyone else to monitor our food, it is MY responsiblity to eat heathly and watch what I eat. Now, I know that I don't do that like I should because I am lazy and I don't want to come home and cook from scratch every night so we tend to eat more frozen processed food than I should and I know that I eat more high calorie food than I should, but it's my fault that I have the lack of willpower to stick to a diet, NOT a resturants! Just my two cents worth N.
