Can all this happen in one night? OT... flat tire

Last night driving home from work at 1030 I had a blow out on one of my tires.

I don't have a cell phone. (I am one of the few Americans that don't.. LOL). I

was lucky that I did not have a wreck and pulled over quickly to the shoulder.

It was dark and drizzling rain. I had just gotten into an area that was kind of

populated. (Part of my drive is in the boonies where there is nothing). I sat

there with my hazard flashers on for about 5 minutes thinking someone would

stop. No one did. I then saw a house across the 5 lane highway. The house had

a light on in the living room and the tv on. I ran across the highway and

knocked. A very nice elderly gentlemen answered the door and let me use his

phone to call my husband.

Ok... I sat for a few minutes and here he came with the kids. He got out of

the truck to change the flat. He left his headlights on the see better. Uh Oh,

the truck was not running at the time. Now the flat got fixed and he had a dead

battery. LOL. (not so funny at the time). Ok, went back to the old

gentleman's door and he answers again. The nice man goes and gets his " jump

box " and drive across the road with it. It was dead and had no charge. Now he

goes back across the highway to his house and finds his jumper cables. He came

back and we got the truck started.

How much can happen in one night???? I need to get a cell phone. What if I

had been in the middle of no where and no one stopped or the wrong person

stopped????
