Hello all,

I am new to this list and am thrilled to not be the only red-faced one in the

room! I was on metrogel-metro cream for a few years. After reading the

insert, (carcinogenic properties), and not seeing much improvement, I decided

to try to treat myself naturally. I made a " tea wash " with chamomile tea. I

keep it in the fridge and apply it in the evening. The less I do to my face,

the better. I gently pat it on with natural cotton balls and let it air dry.

Quite an improvement and it really feels good. I also use plain old

cucumbers, sliced and put on my face. This isn't a cure, but when I have a

really bad flare up, it is very soothing and the redness diminishes. I also

use a chamomile face wash made by cammocare and a cucumber moisturizer. (I

found these items on mothernature.com).

I found a new product that I have not tried yet, but as soon as the

christmas rush is over, I will give it a try. It is called , " Chamomile

Facial Beauty Mist " , made by Flowergenics. It is a cooling aresol spray that

you can carry around. I noticed that the flourescent lights at work do

irritate my skin ( along with all of the other variables!). I often " wished "

that I could just spray something on my face at work, so I was pretty excited

at this discovery. I will keep you posted.

I was reading about apple cider vinegar- it supposedly balances the PH of

your skin. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have a strange kind of survey to put out to the list. In my readings, I

continually come across the statement that there is a genetic component to

rosacea, usually people of Celtic or Northern European backgrounds are

afflicted with it and it runs in families. I was adopted, and do not know

what my ethnicity is, or if my natural parents had rosacea. So, my two

questions are:

What is your ethnicity/heritage?

Do family members also suffer from rosaeca?

It would be really interesting for me for a few reasons. Maybe I can pinpoint

my cultural background, get an idea of what my " family " looks like, and help

my children begin to care for their own skin. Thanks.

Wishing all a wonderful Holiday season!

Peace,

Barrie
