Maybe you all use this already, but for some newly diagnosed, it might

be a new suggestion. My all-time favorite soothing heat-pack is a

clean, old tube sock (or you can devise any manner of hand-made fabric

pretty packs). I fill it with dry rice, re-useable, and tie a knot in

the end to keep the rice inside. I like the aroma of Jasmine rice,

personally. Put enough rice inside to fill the sock, but not too much,

so as to keep it pliable, as you will enjoy draping it around your

aching body parts. Now, just put the rice-sock into your microwave on

high for 1/2 to 1 minute; you'll have to experiment on what time works

best for your size rice bag and your own microwave's power.

Drape that puppy over your painful wherever and enjoy 20-30 minutes of

wonderful heat. It will conform to your neck, back (you can lay on it

too), ankles, anywhere. Feels soooo good. Think now that I'm back on

land I need to put rice on my grocery list and steal one of DH's tube

socks!
