Guest guest
Joe, I've had *that* headache after both lumbar punctures I've had. It is absolutely one of the WORST headaches, you can imagine! Mine lasted 2 weeks, both times. I have finally figured out why I got them, I think. (with help from my nurse daughter) I have always taken an excessive amount of aspirin on a daily basis, for headaches. Aspirin is a blood thinner, therefore my blood does not clot properly. It is bloodclotting that seals off the puncture wound. So if your blood does not clot, you wind up with a slow spinal fluid leak, until it finally seals off. I had the blood patch, but it didn't help, because of this. Check your wife's medications, to see if any of them cause blood thinning. These headaches are just a nightmare! I sure wish her luck in getting over them quickly. Barb.
