,

I have a pedometer that I started wearing since they approved me for

home rehab. What does it say for goals. I don't know how to judge

the number I'm doing. Is there goals for exercise, weight loss,

etc. What is a good amount for a day? It is very interesting that

my house is soooo long that the days I stay home I have the most

steps just from walking back and forth. When I am running around

town, it seems like I'd have more, but then I drive, park, walk in,

walk around, walk out, drive, park. Who knew staying in all day

would rack up the most exercise? The pedometer is a fun little toy.

Kerry,

I too bought a pedometer and was shocked at my numbers. Dr. Oz recommends setting a goal of 10,000 steps a day and I was only at 1,000 on regular days and 3,000 on days I exercise. I had not realized my lifestyle had gotten so sedentary since I have been sick. It is interesting that as a "stay at home" mom you rack up more steps. Have fun with your toy- Sarcoid/PF 3/2006 California

Hi Kathie,

I'm back in Brisbane (been to my first ever LOVE AFL footy match! )checking on my Air Family from the Hotel Hotpsot on my wireless laptop..(I LOVE WIRELESS!)

THe THinwalking Book said ti ignore what anyone says you SHOULD do & just DO what you can for as fast as you COMFORTABLY can for for as long as is COMFORTABLE....

Check your pedometer to see what that is on your first day & then keep increasing your COMFORT zone & just keep watching how you go on your pedometer...NO RULES except the for as long as you can as fast as you can COMFORTABLY do it!

Works for me....I'm building up as my muscles get used to getting out n'about! LOVE IT!

Hi ,

Just make the 1000 steps your STARTING rate & see how you can build it up from there!

I've been devising all sorts of hiklarious routes around my house to do 'in between' other things...it all adds up!

I,too, have worn a pedometer nearly every day until about 4 months ago at least for the past 5 years or so. Mine got broken 1 day when I got out of the car (I had in on the side of my shoe), hit the door getting out and the clamp broke off. I didn't get around to buying another one. I was up to usually average around 10,000 or 11,000 a day, but on a really busy housecleaning day, shopping day, etc., sometimes I would get in around 16,000. I can only imagine how devastated I would be now when I get another one. I do know it kept me motivated to get off my wazoo and get more exercise and I felt a lot better then, too. I think I am definitely going to purchase another one after reading this. I would imagine now I am probably not even getting in 3000 or 4000 steps a day, if that much. I am going to go for 2 laps today!! Am feeling a little more stuffy than usual this morning and the dreaded dry hack is back, too. My back was much better yesterday until I decided to sand and stain this little antique table I got from my Grandpa's attic. It was a beautiful little table and they were going to throw it away just cuz it had a few white paint specks on it. I live in apartment upstairs and work from home, too, so I had to do it inside. Did it in the kitchen with the patio door open and the vent-a-hood turned on, hoping to pull out the smell. The main thing was I did it all bent over and have a little more back pain again this morning. Anyhoo -- the table looks absolutely gorgeous!! My step Grandma had tons of doilies all over the house (the most of which I got), so after it dried, I put a doily on it and it is just lovely!! I AM SO PROUD!! (Actually proud I didn't choke to death doing it!! LOL!!!)

Well, I guess I had better to get work!! Hope you all have a wonderful day!! Caro Caro wrote: Way to go CARO ! Yeah, I know. I can still smell it 2 days later when I walk in the room with the table!! Probably a bad idea to do it inside!!
