Mind you he doesn't have to have elevated enzymes to have pancreatitis. Do you have a good Children's Hospital near you? Does he get sicker when he eats fats? Fats are a big no no when the pancreas is sick. Just in case it is his pancreas I will give you to websites to read. It's about having the pancreas removed and the islet cells transplanted into the liver. I had that done last Dec. and it cured me of pancreatitis. One has to have the surgery before the islets are destroyed by having pancreatitis so it would be the best thing for your son if you had the right diagnosis. Good luck. Shirley http://www.insulin-free.org/stories/rebello.htm htttp://www.insulinfree.org/sutherland.htm PS. steroids are very harmful for the islets and if he does have pancreatitis I would be reluctant to give them to him. Assistant Moderator Pancreatitis Association, International --------------------------- Forwarded Message ----------------------------- From: karid2468@... Hi All, I need a great deal of advise. I have a 10 year old boy. I call him Pup. He's has been sick most of his life with one thing or another. He has been given every DX form Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome to just frankly I don't know! I'm now doing research on my own trying to fit the peace's of the puzzle to together. Currently his DX's are Cyclic Vomiting, Chronic Eosinophlic Gastritis, Ulcers and erosion, reflux. Oh and the biggie, Abdominal Migraine. But everytime he is admitted to the hospital there is always something funny. Like his liver enzymes are elevated or he has a high bliilrubin. Now, this time his blood sugar was elevated. (staying around 186) Now the explanation that we got for that, was that he was receiving high doses of steroids, to control the eosinophileds. And it happened the last time that we were admitted for stomach pane and vomiting. Which we were not informed about!!! And in anycase He did not get put on the prednisone until after that admit when we could get him to his GI doc that is 4 hr. away. Sooooooo I did some looking through copies of medical records that we had taken to his Gi doc and found on several ER trips that his sugar had been slightly elevated a few times. I went to the library and researched this on the puter and this is what I came up with. Do You all think that I'm close? I take him back to GI doc tomorrow! I will not leave without a REAL DX . He's just a kid and always having this trouble. It's screwing up his oor little life. I'm just a desperate Mom.
Guest guest
Hey there... I am so very sorry to hear about your son, My name is Peg, my son who is 15 was diagnosed with Idiopathic CP a year ago, although now we know he has a birth defect in his pancreas known as pancreas divisum. He has suffered all his life with unknown ailments that always we were told was something else. There are many caregivers here along with many who suffer that can give great support and answers to alot of questions. Without this group(family) although lately I have been on the sidelines but always listening, I am not sure where I would be. Please feel free to ask anything and I or someone will be more than willing to try and be of help. Feel free to email me directly also if you would like. As always Keeping you and yours in our thoughts and prayers always..Keep Smiling(cuz sometimes its all one can do!!!)...Peg...: )
