For those looking at alternative low carb plans, I would look at Protein Power, before SugarBusters, the Zone, etc. It allows 30g effective carbs to start,

I have read the Protein Power book, and yes, it would be a good alternative as well.

That's a very good question considering there's a BIG difference between a

food allergy and a food intolerance. For instance, if you're allergic to

milk, you might have a reaction that can kill you (severe anaphylaxis).

If you're simply lactose intolerant, you might have digestive problems,

headache, etc. when you ingest something containing lactose. Stalls are a

result of an intolerance, not an allergy.

I was dx'd w/ candida & multiple food & pollen/mold allergies. I

still take shots. Those, and three years on a rotational diet, got

rid of a lot of the really bad stuff, but I still react strongly to

mushrooms, onions, garlic and corn. And beer and wine. Over the

years my wonderful dr. has learned a lot, but the basics still

apply. He is very supportive of lc, although he prefers the Zone,

which is much higher in carbs than I can handle.

Seeing him saved my life. I was in my 20's and couldn't stay awake

all day I had CFS so bad.

I'm not sure I agree w/ 's comment that an allergy wouldn't

stall weight loss. After all, if colds and TOM can cause stalls, I

would think an allergic reaction would do the same. Lactose

intolerence is totally different, you are lacking some enzyme to

digest milk. Other things labeled intolerences may or may not have a

similar etiology, I'm not convinced that medical field is well

developed. A lot of misinformation is still being dispensed by

allergists and others in medicine, who generally don't believe

candidasis is even a real syndrome.
