I loved the story about your nephew repeating your sister's words. That was

cute. I've never used Tiger Balm, but it sounds interesting.

There's a web site. If you do a search on " Tiger Balm " you should

find it.

It's a mixture of spices and other ingredients. It has a strong

odor. It essentially creates a localized sensation of heat where you

apply it. The fumes can be comforting if you have a cold, kind of

like Vicks. It can also send spouses and relatives running screaming

from the room. I had a little white cat who would try to lick it off

of me; I'd end up hiding under the covers while she tried to get to

me. ;D She also loved Ben-Gay, Rolaids, and Wintergreen Life Savers.

My sister, mom, and I have used it for years, though I don't often

use it anymore. I like the red; they like the white. It's

definitely not meant for use on sensitive tissues or in your mouth or

anything (although I confess to using it on cold sores on my tongue

when desperate). It feels good when you put it on a sore muscle or

joint. I've sometimes put it on various acupuncture points in

between acupuncture treatments.

My nephew, when he was about 3, was riding in the car his mom, my

sister, and a little friend of his. They were discussing Tiger Balm,

and the other kid asked what it was. My nephew quoted my sister,

inflections and all: " It's Ancient Chinese Snake Medicine - it

BUUUUUUUUURNS like FIIIIIIIIIIRE! " ;D

You can buy it at health food stores, or order it online. Whole

Foods probably carries it too.

I love tiger balm, and for some reason I really like the smell too!
