Guest guest
That is horrible! Obese or not, they have the right to eat out too! That is discrimination!! debra van ness wrote: Jeezzzzz, I just heard the most rediculous thing. I was watching CNN and they said something about a bill they are trying to pass in MIssissippi that would make it illegal for restaraunts to serve people who are obese. They would be fined! What the hell??????? I am a little overweight and I know that no one SHOULD be morbidly obese... but what the hell????? I cannot believe that anyone has a right to tell someone what or where they can eat? I don't care if you weight 600 pounds, if you can walk into an eating establishment, you should be able to eat whatever you want. It is an idividual choice, that is not for someone else to decide what to do with your body. I AM FLOORED. I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EARS..... help, did I hear it wrong. hugs to all big and small, Debra V. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! They talked about it on The View this morning, so you didn't hear wrong and just in case it matters to you, they were totally against it. They felt that the fast food restaurants are the ones who should be fined for not changing their menu...especially the kids' menu. I'm almost 5'5 " and weigh just over 200 pounds and I would hate to be turned away from a restaurant just because of my weight. Believe it or not, I'm not a big eater anyway. It doesn't really pay to take me to an all you can eat buffet, because I eat so little. Guest guest
This is the worst B.S. I ever heard. I cannot believe this is even being THOUGHT ABOUT IN AMERICA. We all know that obesity is unhealthy, but people have a right to choose what they want. What is next? If you are underweight they force you to eat more???? If this bill passes it will be the beginning of the end of life as we know it. If the government can control something this personal, what is next? love and hugs, Debra V. Mystic wrote: Debra, Here are the details from the USA Today website: Bill would make it illegal to feed the obese Three legislators want to make it illegal for restaurants to serve obese customers in Mississippi. House Bill No. 282, which was introduced this month, says: Any food establishment to which this section applies shall not be allowed to serve food to any person who is obese, based on criteria prescribed by the State Department of Health after consultation with the Mississippi Council on Obesity Prevention and Management established under Section 41-101-1 or its successor. The State Department of Health shall prepare written materials that describe and explain the criteria for determining whether a person is obese, and shall provide those materials to all food establishments to which this section applies. A food establishment shall be entitled to rely on the criteria for obesity in those written materials when determining whether or not it is allowed to serve food to any person. The proposal would allow health inspectors to yank the permit from any restaurant that " repeatedly " feeds extremely overweight customers. The bill, written by GOP Rep. W. T. Mayhall Jr., was referred to the Judiciary and Public Health committees, but The Free Press doesn't expect it to garner much support in the statehouse. About two-third of Mississippians are considered overweight or obese, according to a recent analysis of federal health data. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
It kinda doesn't surprise me. But do they really think it will help solve the obesity crisis? No way. It's not like the obese person eating is hurting anyone else in the restaurant. Jeanne in WI > Jeezzzzz, I just heard the most rediculous thing. Guest guest
What, do they think by not feeding fat people they won't be fat anymore? That is just.... " f''ing " insane. I guess I would be really hungry. I can't imagine that this bill will get pass. Restaurants would lose money and let's face it... this country is all about capitalism. *shakes head*
