Re: HELP- Discouraged 4th day after Photoderm

Hi --

Don't get discouraged! Give it about 10 days or

so--after my last two treatments, I went into flares

that hung around and made me miserable for about a

week. Once they cleared, I would notice improvement in

the redness and flushing. I, too, am being treated

pretty conservatively--have had no bruising or

blistering and minimal swelling to date from all 3

treatments. That burning sensation was with me for

about a week after treatment, though. Feels like

someone has dragged you across a wool carpet by your

face, doesn't it? It's not pleasant, but it will go

away. Remember, too, this is only your first

treatment. It generally takes about 5 treatments to

see the type of improvement you want. Try to be

patient.

I used cool compresses (sometimes cooled chamomile

tea) to alleviate the burning. Some people use zinc

oxide cream, one of the oils (like Dr. Sy's oils), or

aloe vera. A hint on the aloe, though: Make sure it's

alcohol free--might have to go to a natural foods

store to find that. I also tried to increase my fluid

intake--drank plenty of cool water.

Have faith--it will get better. Keep us posted on your

progress...

Hi ,

I just wondered if you know the exact settings? The number of

pulses and energy are only one aspect of the treatment. The

filter used, pulse duration and inter-pulse delay are also very important.

Btw, I would give it at least two weeks to see if the PhotoDerm has

had any effects - and I wouldn't really expect one treatment to reduce

flushing episodes all that much.
