Guest guest
Hi-- I've been trying to come up w/a healthful diet, too--one that won't leave me compromised in any required nutrients, but won't aggrivate my rosacea, and won't leave me craving french fries and hamburgers all the time b/c it's so bland! I just purchased a book called " Foods That Heal " (I forget the author's name at the moment--he's a nutritionist, I believe). The author has lots of recommendations for things to avoid, such as processed foods (that often includes canned foods), refined foods, additives and preservatives, an overabundance of animal protein (meat and dairy). He has a food chart that shows how much of each type of food you should be eating. If I remember correctly, he says that we should have 1 serving of protein a day, 2 servings of fruit, and 6 servings of vegetables. Raw is better, but steamed is also appropriate. He also talks about balancing the " acid and alkaline " foods. I haven't really read that section well--I can tell you more about it later. He also gives recommendations for fruit/veggie juices for certain conditions (he's big on juicing--alot if the book is really geared towards people who are on elimination diets due to physical illness, or people who have digestive problems and must eat only soft foods). He seems to like cucumbers for " complexion problems. " He also mentions something called " rutin " for people with broken or weak blood vessels--supposed to help rebuild the vessel walls. I don't know what it is--anyone? Anyway, the idea is to help your body help itself heal by giving it the nutrients it needs in easily used forms, rather than forcing it to use the less easily assimilated forms that you find in a lot of modern diets. I've just started working thru the book, but I'll post some intersting things I find out along the way... --- MugsViola2@... wrote: > > Hi everyone: > > I would like to get some advice on a diet to follow. > Right now I have > Myoplex shakes throughout the day, fiber powder and > baked breaded chicken > breast with broccoli or cauliflower steamed.
