Are you talking about a disease that causes sores or pockets in your

intestine? If you are I think you spell it diverticulitis.

My Dad had it years ago and had to have a section of his intestine

removed.

I don't know if it is an auto immune diease.

Generally it is caused from a lack of fiber in one's diet although I

think there is a tendency for certain folks to develop this

(heridity?). I recently had a bout of rather nagging pain in my

descending colon, which I suspected were diverticuli. A recent

colonoscopy confirmed that I did have a mild case of

diverticulosis. Yet I eat a diet fairly high in fiber and don't eat

that much meat, so I think it may have a genetic base to it as

well. Needless to say, I have stepped up my fiber and my water

intake and am sure to get adequate magnesium.

Dear gang,

I believe Diverticulitis is caused by eating animal products, particularly

meat. It takes a long time to digest and rots in the bowel. The pockets of

irritated bowel can then become inflamed and even infected. I have read

many stories of people who have totally reversed the condition when they

stop eating dead animals.

Just my opinion.

Rosemary.
