hyperpigmentation?

Just wondering why I have hyperpigmentaion on my legs and my daughter doesn't.

We take the same dose of Minocin/Doxy.

I told my doctor that the blue spots on my legs are old bruises. She said that it first started out as a bruise and it turned into hyperpigmentation spots.

What would be the dosage of Vit C that would help this?

Hi

I have had the same thing. I do take 3000 of Vit C daily but for me

the biotin and bioflavenoids help decrease capillary fragility.

I am on a high does of Minocin for 6yrs and so far so good!

There are thigs that CAN help this. This is what I found so far.if

anyone else has other rememdies, I know I would love the exchange of

info.

Love Marge

Hi Leoni, I have a classic case of hyperpigmentation.  Was on Minocin for about

a year and a half and stayed out of the sun mostly.  I got a little tan during

the summer, but walked the streets of NYC with an umbrella when the sun was

high.  Then during the winter, I went to St. Croix and Puerto Rico and stayed 4

months.  It was very difficult to avoid the sun, so I just ignored the warning

and strolled the beaches and had lots of fun.  I got darker and darker till I

was mistaken for a black person.  Then I went back to NY and started avoiding

the sun once more.  It took another 18 months to lose the tan.  All the while I

was still on Minocin.  All Minocin does is make your skin more susceptible to

the sun's rays.  All tetracyclines do the same.  About that time I started on

MP.  They are totally against any sun because of the Vit D issue.  I now live in

S.E.Texas which, I imagine, must be a lot like Australia, hot & sunny. But, my

job keeps

me indoor most of the day and when I do go out the sun is usually setting.  I

wear the NoIR's glasses to protect my eyes from the sun.  I am still on Minocin

and Clindamycin and will soon start on zithromycin.  I have to say, I am much

much lighter in color and I feel just fine.  So, no, it is not permanent, but it

is a good thing to stay out of direct sunlight and cover with some shade.  The

dermatologists are always warning against getting sunburn as it damages the

pigment of the skin and they say, may  cause cancer.  I hope this answers your

question.  How are you feeling these days?   Peace, Dolores

Hi all,

what's the deal with hyperpig ? My rheumo said mino is not well

tolerated in australia due to our extra strong sun, ultra violet

thingamajigy. Is hyperpig dangerous in any way, and what happens when

you get it ? do you have to go off mino?

thanks again...

A study was done and the resultshowed that taking Vit C helped most people

not get hyperpigmentation. I had it years ago and it made me splotchy above

my eye brows. It went away when I changed antibiotics. This time I am taking

Vit C!
