Guest guest
Dr. Sy-I have very mild rosacea with no pustular or papular components. I use only metrogel once a day and the supplements so recommended on the group. I was diagnosed recently with scarring alopecia (3 distinct spots on my head)-likely Pseudopelade. The treatment has been Kenalog injections (10mg) once per month and now Paquenil to stop the active area (two areas are dead and likely burned themselves out years ago)-the active area is no longer inflammed and is stable......I have been asked to also use clobertasol on the spot just a small amount each night. I am concerned about the effect of this on the rosacea. I was told it is so small it is not of concern and yet I read that clobetasol is one of the higher potency cortisones. I am not sure that this is for very long term use but I am advised to use it b.i.d. I have been doing so for a month and no reactions that I can see. Can you advise me as to the length you would recommend for this? Concerns you might see etc? I feel that the doctor treating the alopecia is VERY qualified in his field and has the situation under control but seems not too concerned about the use of cortisone on a patient with rosacea likely due to the mild nature of mine. I would not like to expose myself to unecessarily contracting worse rosacea or from what I have read on the board drug induced rosacea??? I would appreciate any comments and suggestions you might have. Any concern re " paquenil? The shots are working fine and caused the area to be static....no growth. Thank you. I do so appreciate the time you take to advise on this board. Also a mere mention of oil of oregano while I am here. I had tried it for a week and found that it was causing me to break out into pustules for the first time on my forehead and in the scalp by the hairline. Once stopped they went away. So, as you said it is powerful stuff. I have discontinued its usage and am using only tthe recommended noted supplements like Flax seed oil etc. Rosemary
