Guest guest
Sandy, Carmela and all ... Walking is a wonderful experience and great exercise, if we can all do it. Start slow and work your way up. My father-in-law (83 years old) suffers from RA and if he can't get outside to walk in bad weather, he walks around his apartment for a half hour just to get his knees moving. Walking is also goof for your mental health. I'm up to 5 miles a day, weather permitting and then I do some light weight repetitions for my arms and upper body. I am very fortunate not to be on a lot of medication right now and because my blood work stayed the same again after 8 weeks with a sed rate of 1 and c-reactive protein level of <0.50, Dr. T reduced my methotrexate another 2.5 mgs. So I'm down to 5mgs per week now and if all stays well ... another 2.5 mgs less in a few weeks and in October he'll determine weather to take me completely off. I haven't had a flare (knock on wood) since March and blood work has stayed normal. Only problem is with enlarged red blood cells, but that's fro! m the metho. I feel if I continue to exercise on a daily basis and drink a gallon (yes, I said 1 GALLON) of water to flush the liver and kidneys, these beasties will leave me alone for a while. So hang in there .... and keep walking. Also, if you have problems walking, water aerobics is a wonderful substitute, especially in the summer months. Just me, Kathleen

I think drinking the water helps me, or it could be all in my mind. Kathleen, I'm taking a lot of meds right now, and I'm having a great deal of pain tonight w/in my ears. However, it's makes me very happy to hear that you are not on a lot of meds. Whatever is helping you, keep it up girl.
