Guest guest
ello I'm new to the group. I've had rosacea for 6 years now and have been managing pretty well on 500 mg./day of Erythromycin until a couple of years ago when I needed 1 gram/day to get the same control. I use Metrocream and nizoral 2% cream and the cetaphil bar for cleansing. Ombrelle SPF 15 and Banana Boat Faces Plus SPF 23 sunscreens are ok for me and I use them as my mosturizers as well. I'm afraid to wear makeup, my skin seems to be better without. I had ocular symptoms for years before I developed any skin symptoms. I clean my lids twice daily with baby shampoo and so far I just have dryness and grittiness but the dryness has gotten worse this past year. I also have seb derm but except for my scalp at the moment that doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm using Nizoral shampoo for that. Also there's a history of Celiac Disease and Lupus in my family. This last year my nose has gotten red and I am always getting red spots particulally on the end of it and sometimes red lumps. They seem to develop overnight and then fade a bit through the day. Flushing never used to be a problem until this year, the left side of my face and my left ear, mostly in the evening, and sometimes all I have to do is lie down. My triggers mostly environmental ones and stress although I'm trying to identify what food triggers there may be. I do avoid the suggested food triggers anyway and I have not had any caffeine in years. I have a few questions: 1. I am Canadian and live north of Toronto does anyone and know a good derm in the Toronto area? Can someone recommend someone for Photoderm treatments in the same area? 2. I would like to do some skiing this winter and wonder what people have found works best to protect their faces. Is there a line of clothing that anyone knows of? 3. Is the problem with electric blankets the heat or the electromagnet field? I have one perhaps that's the problem. 4. Do most people have allergy testing, and do they find this worthwhile? 5. The cea Awareness Program (Galderma) up here states that the beans and pods of " broadleaf beans " are triggers. What beans are not broadleaf beans? My local Dept of Agriculture can't tell me. 6. Are decaffeinated tea and coffee and yeast in bread considered ok? 7. The only zinc oxide products that I can find contain lanolin, which I thought was to be avoided. Thanks so much to all of you for any help. Sorry for the lengthy story. E.
