Putting away the A/R cream for awhile........

Hi Guys,

As you may know, I have been doing the A/R Cream thing for almost a

month now, (and have seen results) but am putting it away for a while. I

recently found out that in the State of Florida (where I live) I can see a

dermatologist up to 5x per year without a referral from my primary care

physician. My primary doc has always treated my rosacea without referring me

to a derm. Anyway, I made an appt with a derm who happens to be a childhood

friend.

Today was my appt. I showed him the A/R Cream and asked him his opinion

of the cream and Emu Oil in general. He said he thought the ingredients in

the A/R cream were fine, EXCEPT FOR THE VIT E. Vit E. applied topically can

cause increase skin sensitivity (redness). As for the Emu Oil...he said his

parents raise Emus and that he was very familiar with the emu oil. His take

on it was it is just a popular fad right now. He said he wished there was

more testing done on it, but for now all the benefit claims are just

that....claims.

Because I grew up with this doc, I know he is the type of person to think

" outside of the box. " His parents were both dermatologist, he went to good

schools, and had an incredibly broad-based educational childhood. He asked

me to stop the A/R cream for a while and give Klaron a try. Then he said

wash my face with Dove every other day, otherwise just use water. He said to

try this and he believes it will do a better job of clearing my rosacea that

the A/R cream. I agreed to try it.

So, I am off the A/R cream and back on meds. I will keep you posted.

Wash every other day with Dove? That is really interesting. I've always

thought I needed to wash my face morning and night, every day. Now I think

face washing is really overrated. I'm down to washing just at night and

splashing with water in the morning. My face looks and feels much better.

Thank you for sharing this info.

Woody,

I can understand the way you feel. It is discouraging to see doctor

after doctor with no results. As I said, my GP was treating my rosacea with

no luck. That is when I switched over to my current derm. I think the fact

that he is a good friend of mine (and has been since we were 10 yrs old.)

does " blind " me. I trust him. It just so happens the Klaron he gave me a

sample of is working (only day six). My husband commented my face has never

looked so clear.

Had my derm not been a friend, I'm sure I would have questioned him

more. But, in this case, I have the luxury of knowing the kind of person he

is...open minded, educated & compassionate. If only we all were so lucky.

As far as the Vit E & the A/R Cream goes, I also emailed Nettie on that

point and got the same answer as you. The advice from my derm to be careful

of the Vit E in the A/R Cream was more of a " heads up " thing. I glad he

mentioned it....it caused me (and you) to probe further.

I got the feeling that my derm was pro natural healing, but without

formal testing he could not put his stamp of approval on it. I respect that.

I still use the Emu oil and like it. Hope you have some luck with your

selected course of treatment too.
